History
Juno’s was originally adopted from a breeder near Utica, NY, by a young couple. She did great with them. They had a baby a few years later, and found that there were not enough hours in the day to care for a baby and a young husky. As friends of the family, my partner and I took a chance adopting Juno into our established pack of two dogs (a male husky and a female pitbull and two indoor/outdoor cats. Coming home with us, Juno quickly adjusted to new routines, with slower mornings, walking with two other dogs, and having ample free time in a fenced in yard (a plus for her as without a fence, she may run off!) Unfortunately, the female pitbull in our home decided that she is NOT ok sharing her home with another female (despite how friendly and wonderful Juno is), and after working on it for some time, but not being able to prevent the pitbull from aggression against Juno, we realize that keeping Juno is not an option.
Personality
Hello possible family member/s! If you are willing to invite me in, you’re in for a real treat & like my current foster family – you will never want me to leave!
I am incredibly friendly with every person and (domestic) animal that I greet. I REALLY LOVE having canine siblings! With people I joyfully verbalize “Hello!” and will lick your hand and excitedly anticipate a chance to play fetch or be active & adventurous with you in some way. I only occasionally jump up and quickly remember with a reminder from you to keep “down”. With animals I meet I do the usual doggie sniffs & then kindly propose playing with a down dog (yoga!) stance, an invitation to run, or I might find a toy and drop it in front of another dog to explore what we might do together!
As long as I have sufficient exercise, I can be content to lay around – preferably with you or my sibling/s nearby. If I am left alone I will express my displeasure with some very clear husky calls. And, while I’m mentioning it… if I am feeling excluded (like I’m outside and everyone else is inside) I have perfected what my current caregivers call a “sad sad whale call”. While I don’t prefer being alone, I am also ok with it. I am comfortable in my crate with a couple chew toys for up to 4 hours. It is unknown if I can be left free roaming in the house while you’re away!
It did not take me long to settle into life with my foster family. I’ve been here since mid-August and I have adopted all new routines; I can do this with you too! I sleep in my own bed (crate). And, although I will usually step out just to pee in the morning and then go straight back to bed for a bit, I would also love to go for a run or play in the yard or have a brisk walk instead!
A few things I believe to be ridiculously adorable and/or skillful things about myself are: 1) When you’re standing around, I’ll suddenly appear between your legs, looking up at you, 2) I often say hello by bringing a toy, 3) You’ll be busy doing your thing and then realize I am curled up just behind you (I like to be close!), 4) I am pretty awesome at fetching and returning the object right to your feet… and 5) I am also getting pretty good at catching things in the air!
Cohabitation
I am wonderful with all people!
I am terrific with cats! I let cats approach, and do not go after them.
I have been around kids 5 years and up and am very good with them.
Favorite Activities
- Fetch, tug-tug, catch, wrestling with other dogs.
- Walks (I’m getting better on leash. My people are in the process of doing slip leash training with me.)
- Being with doggy siblings & near my people is definitely my favorite!
Why we are looking to rehome
As mentioned above, our female dog is aggressive to Juno and requires 24/7 separation between those dogs for Juno’s safety. Our male dog is friendly with both females, so he has been spending time with them both–no one has been isolated.
Medical
I am a healthy girl! My current foster family took me to the vet when I first came a few months ago and got up to date on vaccinations and have a thorough once over. I am also on flea and tick and heartworm monthly prevention, as most/all dogs are in our region.
Summary
From my foster parents: We can’t say strongly enough how AMAZING Juno is! We can’t imagine anyone meeting her and not falling head over heels in love. She would LOVE a home with people who were around a decent amount of the time and in which there was another
friendly, playful dog. A fenced yard would be SO enjoyed, and someone who is joyful and active and happy to work on some little things like learning to pull less on woodsy walks would be terrific! I am so smart and incredibly kind, friendly and playful. I am the total package!
