Hi, my name is Betsy! I am a 6 pound, 2 year-old, spayed female Maltese/ Yorkie. I am healthy and up to date on vaccines!

History
I spent the first 2 years of my life living outside under a house or in a shed. No
one ever petted me or held me or talked to me, so I am nervous about people I don’t know. I was seized in a cruelty case with my 32 brothers and sisters. .
I have since learned to trust a few people, and it’s opening up a whole new world for me. But it’s opening slowly, and I need someone with loads and loads of compassionate patience! I will still run and hide when I’m scared and would so appreciate someone who understands this, and will only ask me to do scary things (like meet new people or go to new places) very, very slowly and carefully over time. Just a little baby step at a time, once i know and trust you, no big leaps please!
I am not housebroken yet as I am still terrified of a leash, so a securely fenced yard is needed. Absolutely no electric fences for a scared girl like me, that would be a disaster! I also need a home that has at least one other dog in it, because other dogs make me feel safer, and when I’m nervous, their presence helps to soothe me.
Personality
I get along great with dogs and cats!! And to reiterate, I need a home with a patient person who will let me adjust on my own timeline, but maybe working with a really nice positive reinforcement type trainer would be lovely. They could help you learn ways to make me feel safer, and i would be so grateful for that. Once I come to trust you, we will be best friends!! Since i am so nervous, I am not a good fit for a home with children. I hope someone will give me a chance, I am just a young girl and have such a long life ahead, and with the right adopter, it could be a joyful and gorgeous life!
