History

We rescued Duda from Scottsville Pet Adoptions about 8 years ago. We weren’t given much of his history, just that he came to them from Miami.

Personality

I am the sweetest dog!! I have energy to play at times, but I love to snuggle up on your lap and lay with you just as much! I love playing with people and other dogs too! Sometimes when I play I make really silly noises that cracks everyone up! I’ve lived with dogs, cats and kids and have loved them all! I’ve been around pretty much all ages, from newborns to teenagers to grandparents. I’m very, very gentle with people. So gentle that even when someone is holding a treat, I still gently take it out of their hand.

I love running around the yard chasing squirrels and birds! Being outside makes me really happy! I have an invisible fence now so I’m able to run around as much as I want! I have a funny personality that keeps everyone amused! Sometimes when I get really excited I wag my tail so hard my whole butt shakes! I love being around people and pets both day and night. I have always slept in bed with my owners at night and love burrowing under the covers. I am a happy, sweet, gentle dog who just wants a loving family!

Cohabitation

I have lived with kids, dogs and cats and have gotten along with all of them great!!

Favorite Activities

Going for walks, cuddling, playing with chew toys, eating treats, running around the yard, watching tv (yes, I really do watch tv!)

Why I am looking for a new home

We have gotten so busy over the years it’s hard for us to give Duda the love and attention he deserves. We have had some issues with him having accidents in the house if we aren’t attentive or quick enough to let him outside. We also let him sleep in bed with us and he tends to get up at least once a night to go potty. It’s our fault for allowing this to happen over the years, we just haven’t had enough time to devote to training him properly at night. We have recently had an issue with Coyotes which has made letting him out at night extra difficult. We would love to find him a wonderful family who will love him as much as we do!

Medical

I have always had some allergies but they are much better now that I am on a limited ingredient diet! I really like the limited ingredient fish foods – the Wellness Ocean brand has been great! My owners recently started me on Trazadone to help me sleep longer at night!

Summary

Duda is an incredibly sweet dog. He is a happy, playful, affectionate dog that deserves the absolute best! We are hoping to find a family who has more time to devote to him than we do. A family who is ok with getting up and letting him out during the night, or is able to crate train him properly at night so he won’t get up. He also loves running around outside, so a family with a fenced in yard or invisible fence would be perfect for him! If you do end up adopting him and feel it’s not the best fit we will absolutely take him back, no questions asked! It’s very important to us that he finds the best fit for both him and you!

If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca, Syracuse, Binghamton, Rochester, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can’t do home visits where we don’t have local volunteers. The rescue will forward it to my current mom, who will a) be in touch with you and b) make all decisions about my placement!
