Background
I was rescued from a puppy mill when I was young and have lived with my current family ever since!.
Personality
I am a super lovey girl. I love my people and show it with lots of affectionate cuddles and the occasional polite kiss. When I was younger and a little smaller I used to cuddle up every night in my mom’s arms like a baby. Now she says I am too big for that but I think she is wrong, I know I could still fit if someone would let me!! I would love to squirm into your lap and flip over to have my belly rubbed, it is my absolute most favorite thing in the whole wide world! And if the couch is off limits, be prepared to have me sleeping on your feet or leaning against your legs all night. I just love to be right next to everyone I love.
My nickname is ‘Squishy’ because of the extra squishy skin I inherited from my Sharpei parent. I know how to come when called and I sit politely and wait to eat my food until I am told ‘OK’. I am both a cuddler and a lap dog! If allowed, I would love to snuggle up next to you on the couch all day.
But I am not just a couch girl, I also love to run and show off my speed (the other dogs can’t catch me no matter how much they try)!! I happily play and wrestle with the other dogs, and sometimes you will find us all curled up relaxing together afterwards.
One of my other favorite things to do is find a patch of sunshine and stretch out in it and take a nice warm nap! My mom says I’m sort of like a cat that way, I love the warmth, yummmmmmm. I confess to being a bit of a baby about the rain, because I don’t like to get my feet wet! But I love the snow and have been known to dive headfirst into a snowdrift and come up flopping around like a seal!!

I am great with other dogs and adults but am not so fond of cats or kids.

Why I am looking for a new home
Since my current parents rescued me from the puppy mill, I’ve always been a little bit sensitive about rough handling. They think it’s probably something to do with however I was treated in that icky place. They noticed early on that if they tried to take me by the collar to move me, or try to move me by pushing me by the hips, I would get upset and give a little growl as a way of asking them to please not do that. They respected that, and have always gotten me to move in another way (treats work great!) and there has been no issue.
But their daughter is 2 years old, and even though they teach her “gentle, gentle,” and though I know she doesn’t mean any harm, she does mishandle me sometimes in a way that upsets me and is stressing me out so much. After a few growls and one air-snapping moment, we’ve all decided that I would do better in a child-free home. My parents are keeping us separated for now, but I don’t want to spend most of my time in a bedroom or behind a gate, it’s sad for me. I would love to be free again to be wherever my people are, which is why we’re looking for a new great kid-free home for me.
Medical
I have an unknown but quite severe food allergy! I lost all of the hair on half of my face before the vets figured it out, but all is fine now! I eat only grain-free/limited ingredient food with fish as the main protein, and I should only get treats of similar ingredients. My current food is Call of the Wild, the fish flavor, but have done well with multiple brands of grain free/Limited Ingredient Diet foods as long as they are fish based.
Summary
I am the sweetest, most amazing dog!! I just need to be in a home without children and with reasonably experienced dog owners. I am very loyal and will be by your side constantly. If you are looking for a cuddle bug that will enjoy the occasional run outside, then I am the dog for you!!
