No Kids? 12+ years   Background: I am one of the lucky dogs who got to live her entire life with loving owners. Sadly, one of them passed away a few years ago and the other passed away this year, leaving me an orphan in my senior years. Their family friend and caretaker tried to take care of me, coming twice a day to feed me and walk me in my empty house, but we soon realized I needed a new home where…

I was so grateful to them and when I met my doggy brother, a Lab, we ran and ran, it was so much fun! They had 4 cats and I was great with them all too! I wasn’t OK with strangers and other dogs, though–they made me very nervous. Once I got to know people, I felt comfortable around them. I went to doggie school and worked with a trainer…

Quick Facts: Breed: Spaniel mix Gender: Male, neutered Age: 2-3 years old Size: 45 lbs Good with… Dogs? Yes, see below Cats? Yes Kids? 12+ years Background: Well…I’m sorry to say, I did not have a happy or safe early life. I was one of 43 dogs that were kept by a hoarder in a rural town in TN. Lucky for us, the animal control officers found out about the terrible conditions in which we were being kept, and took us all away to the shelter to find new, much better homes. That was back in June of 2013. As if that wasn’t a terrible enough experience, then the building next to the animal shelter exploded! Seriously! The shelter was in danger of catching fire as…

Lily

We have very sad news. Our longest resident foster dog, Lily, who came to us in 2011, passed away last Friday from hemangiosarcoma, in the arms of her foster mom and dad, and with foster siblings Sammy and Elfie at her side. Lily was a good, good, good girl. Rescued from a high-kill shelter in KY, she joined the CDR foster care program when she was just 4 months old. She arrived to us with one of her ears half cut-off and with a fractured pelvis. And a fear of children of a certain height, and short, heavyset blonde women. Clearly, she had suffered something traumatic in her first months. But such a spirit she had! A pup who was more filled with love and humor, good nature and joy, you could not have found! Lily was all about fun-fun-fun, and kisses-kisses-kisses. 😊 But that pelvis fracture that she arrived…

I am young and therefore very, very playful with other dogs!…
