Luna is a 7-month old purebred Great Pyrenees pup who weighs about 55 lbs. She belonged to a backyard breeder but was found, on multiple occasions, wandering in the road with her 2 brothers. The owner/breeder bailed them all out several times, but the fine increased every time they were picked up. So the last time, she took Luna’s brothers but left her there. She is a very timid girl and doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body. She’s very sweet and affectionate and is … Continue reading

History

I was owned by someone way down in KY who was quite unwell and couldn’t take care of me. I developed a really severe skin allergy and had chronic otitis in both ears (painful!) which went untreated for a very long time. My ears got all swollen and have stayed that way to some degree. I suffered a lot for quite a long time and was very sad. Then my owner finally decided she could no longer take care of me, so surrendered me to a high-kill shelter, suggesting that they euthanize me. She thought I didn’t hear this, but of course I did. … Continue reading

History

I spent most of my life with a lady who was not able to provide much care for me. She fed me well (too much actually), but didn’t have the resources to take care of my medical issues, and didn’t have the time or energy to devote much to me. Luckily she agreed to surrender me to her relative so I could get into rescue, which is how I ended up in my AMAZING Cayuga Dog Rescue foster home! Holy moly! Life is so good now, and I’m told it will be even better when I find my new forever family!

History

My family adopted me from the Tompkins County SPCA two years ago; I was two years old at the time so I’m pretty sure I’m almost four years old. The SPCA was very scary for me and I barked and growled at everyone while in my room. When I met my people in a neutral area of the facility, they sat on the floor and were given treats to share with me and soon I was coming to them and letting them pet me. Then they got a toy and threw it for me … Continue reading

Why I am Looking for a New Home

I was rescued from the streets of Tucson, Arizona when I was only 1 month old. I was very skinny and scared, but was nursed back to health by Tucson Cause for Canines. When I was 6 months old, my parents moved to Tucson and adopted me as a companion for their older dog Petunia!

Petunia and I became fast friends, and have shared many exciting adventures and afternoon snuggles together. However, I occasionally feel threatened by having to share my space with my sister (maybe due … Continue reading

History

I landed in a very high kill rural shelter in Kentucky, missing half of my fur and with skin so red and raw it was painful to look at. Sadly, that shelter provides no medical care, so I lay there for weeks, itching 24 hours a day and feeling like my skin was on fire. Luckily, another KY shelter scooped me up before I was going to be put to sleep and brought me to their much better shelter, then contacted CDR and asked if I could come up to their foster program. Guess what? They said YES! It was a long ride but boy am I happy to be here, … Continue reading
