Background

I was born July 1st 2007 in a kill shelter in Ohio and was then transported to Rochester NY by a rescue. I stayed at a foster house until I was old enough to be put up for adoption. My current momma adopted me from the rescue when I was 16 weeks old and we’ve been together ever since. My dog-momma was … Continue reading

History

I landed in a high-kill southern shelter, but was one of the lucky dogs who was spotted by a terrific rescue worker down there and sent up to Cayuga Dog Rescue to have a totally new, wonderful life!  Whoo-hoo!!  Life is so good now! By the way, the vet down south thought I was 7 years old, but our awesome local vet says, “nope, more like 5-6 years old at most” and our vet is brilliant, so we’re going with that!

I am a very loving, very sweet girl with a spunky personality … Continue reading

History

I was found roaming the backwoods of rural KY and was scooped up and turned in by a nice person, who I am sure hoped that family would come looking for me at the shelter. Sadly, no one ever did, and since it was a high-kill shelter, I was in great danger. Luckily the shelter staff noticed that I was the NICEST little dog whose acquaintance they’d ever met, so they contacted the KY rescue lady they knew and she got me out of there and sent me up to join the CDR foster program!

Personality

I LOVE people. Seriously LOVE LOVE LOVE people!! The … Continue reading

History

I came from a crowded, rural Kentucky shelter where I was overlooked because of my shyness, which put me in danger of being euthanized. I made the trip to the safety of CDR and my foster family in early October. I still sometimes hide behind the couch or try to fit under the bed when I’m feeling shy or unsure. But once I trust you, I’m happy to come to you for love or playtime.

Personality

I’m super sweet! I like to come find you and lay my head on you. I put my paws up on your lap to see if maybe you’ll … Continue reading

Hello everybody! My name is Callie! What’s yours?

I am a beautiful (if I say so myself) beagle/shepherd mix who was found as a stray in Kentucky. We don’t know much about my past, but I was in a high kill shelter down there when the kind folks at the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society took a shine to me and, with the help of Cayuga Dog rescue, whisked me up north to a foster home. I’ve been at my foster home for just a couple of weeks, and I’m really looking forward to finding my just right “furever” home!!

I am an incredibly sweet little girl who is very young at heart, energetic and fun, and has loads of love to give!

I have lived my life very traditionally for a Beagle—hunting rabbits and living in a nice indoor/outdoor kennel–and I have enjoyed it a great deal! My loving owner recently passed away, and folks tell me that I will be entering a new phase of life where I will live indoors, learn all about soft dog beds, cuddling and reading books or watching tv, and going for walks on leash purely for the love of the stroll! It all sounds pretty … Continue reading

History

I, along with 3 of my Beagle buddies, lived a very traditional former life, as hunting Beagles. Our owners were a very nice older couple– we got to go on occasional rabbit hunting expeditions and we lived full-time in nice indoor/outdoor kennels. Our owners were super nice, but we weren’t indoor pets, so we weren’t exposed to lots of time with people, or all the ways of indoor living (like couches! And watching movies while having snuggle time!). One of our owners sadly passed away and the other has health issues and is not able to take care of us anymore. Three of us already found homes through … Continue reading
