Please Welcome Hayley, our newest CDR rescue!
Hayley is a ridiculously sweet, friendly, loving 70-pound, 12 year-old lab mix girl who needed rescue when her owner lost his home and had to move downstate to a senior facility.
She has been with us for about a month, and she is really blossoming! She arrived with a host of normal, senior-dog medical issues that needed attention—she was overdue on all vaccines, had a very bad UTI, was quite overweight, was limping and achey all over, and had several broken teeth and a mouth full of tartar and inflammation.
We’re on it and making good progress!
Her UTI is already mostly cleared up, she is less achey all over and is limping less due to helpful pain meds and anti-inflammatories. Her bloodwork looks good! She is now up to date on exams and vaccines, is on heartworm and flea/tick preventive, is getting lovely nutritious food, and is enjoying more exercise as her reduced achiness and increased strength now allows. Her increased comfort is really starting to show…with adorable-to-see spunkiness, energy, happiness, and silliness! Check out the video, showing Hayley doing what her foster parents call her “tippy-tappy dance,” which she now performs whenever her foster mom and dad arrive back home!
We’re not going to put Hayley up for adoption until we finish treating all of her medical issues, which won’t be until mid-November, the soonest dentistry appointment we could get.
For now , please consider making a donation to CDR to be used for Hayley’s veterinary needs. We have already spent much of our funds on her vet care, and are facing a $1,500-$2,000 dental procedure in November. We would be so grateful for any help you can give Hayley, so she can be out of pain and in tip-top shape for her golden years! It takes a village and you are our wonderful village! Please help Hayley if you can!
