Hello! My name is Eve and I am the sweetest, cuddliest, most playful dog around!

***Eve is not a CDR dog and has not been evaluated by CDR. This is a courtesy posting for Rainbow of Hope Animal Rescue (contact info: 607-562-8085 who will make all decisions about her adoptive placement. Please contact by above phone or email to apply to adopt.***

My 2nd owner surrendered me to Rainbow of Hope Animal Rescue (in Elmira/Corning region). My first owner had to move in to help care for elderly relatives, and since he was not permitted to bring me or any dog with him, he got his good friend to take over my care. Though the friend’s landlord had said it was fine for her to have me in her place, he changed his mind after a few days and said “no dogs” was the new policy. Very sad for both of us! With no other friends or family able to adopt me, she called Rainbow of Hope and they said they would make sure that I was well taken care of and that they would find me a great home! Yay!

They first put me in a very nice boarding kennel for about a month, and then found me a very lovely foster home where I am living now as I await my wonderful forever family or person! PLEASE CONTACT RAINBOW OF HOPE ANIMAL RESCUE DIRECTLY TO INQUIRE ABOUT ADOPTION!! Contact person is Susan Ford at

I LOVE PEOPLE!!!!! I am very, very friendly, no matter your age! I light up when I see a new person! I get so excited, I want them to love me and play with me right away! When I am allowed to meet them (we need to be careful with the Covid virus you know!), I jump up in excitement, get all wiggly-wiggly, and like to lick their hands when they are petting me!! I give their hands kisses! I know most people are good. I am just so very much waiting for one of those good people to say “you are my forever friend!” When I met my current foster family at the kennel, I just ran back and forth in the doggie hallway with my toy, showing them how much I will play with them!

I have a lot of happy energy and I love to do zoomies after I get back from my walks! I am so appreciative and enthusiastic!! I’m also a little bit silly! For instance, I pull all of my toys out of my toy bin and bring each one of them to my foster mom or dad after my trips outside! They say it’s incredibly adorable! I love to lie on my back, hold my stuffed toy between my front paws, and gnaw on it while showing it off to my people! I know what my toys are and I love love love to play with them! And…I am smart! I am very good about knowing the difference between my toys (ok to chew!) and your things (not ok to chew!) and I am very respectful and keep to my own toys. And though I know which toys are mine, I don’t mind if you need to take a toy away from me. No problem! But it’s especially good if you want to take it from me so that you can then toss it back and play with me! Fun!

I have my playful energy spurts, but once the zoomies are done, I will quickly settle down. In the evenings, I am actually a bit of a couch potato! I love when it’s evening TV time with my people! I love to put my head (or my body if you let me) on your lap while we sit next to each other on the couch. C’mon humans, stop working and doing your house chores and come relax on the couch with me! I get so relaxed on the couch with you that before you know it, you might hear me snoring! Hahaha! I also love to cuddle in bed with you! At bedtime, I love to curl up in a tight little ball and either lay right up against you or rest my head on you. I so very much hope my forever family lets me sleep in bed with them!

I love meeting any new person and I will take treats very gently from their hand! I know some basic commands, like sit and come but I look forward to learning some new things and understanding what is expected of me! I am very eager to please and learn!

I am very curious on my walks! So many interesting sights and smells, it is very distracting! I walk best with a harness.

I am a bit uncertain about what I am supposed to do, and how I am supposed to act, when I meet other dogs on my walks. Am I supposed to be friendly? Protect you from them? Will they be nice to me, or will they want to start something not nice? I don’t know! I am best/most relaxed and friendly with smaller, submissive dogs. When I lived with my first owner’s friend for a couple of days, she had a corgi and we loved to play together! We had a blast! Since then, though, I have sometimes been fearful with and unsure of other dogs (e.g. at the kennel where I was for a month). Dogs who are dominant or aggressive definitely make me nervous. I hope hope hope that you will help me keep getting more relaxed around dogs with positive reinforcement techniques!

Because I love people so much but have been bounced around to a number of different homes in my short life, I understandably get a bit anxious when I am put into a new home. I think, “How long will this last? Will these people leave me too?” I so deeply want to be able to stay with one person or one family. I will need you to understand that it might take me a bit of time to relax in your home, and to not worry that you are going to leave me. Oh boy, I want that so much. To help with my anxiety, I am crated when you are going to leave the house. I get a bit anxious at first, but if you give me a stuffed Kong and some treats, I calm myself in a short period of time. If you have to go to work, I understand, I’ll be okay in my crate though I would be over the moon if you didn’t have to be gone for long days all the time!

I LOVE people, all people of any age!!

I love children, but because of my energetic, enthusiastic personality, it is safest for me to be placed in a home that doesn’t have smaller kids. Maybe 10 or older? I would be terribly upset if I accidentally knocked over a little’un with my zoomies!

As mentioned above, I can be fearful of other dogs that are larger than me or that approach me with assertiveness or aggression. I am much more relaxed with smaller male dogs and dogs that are calm, gentle, and relaxed. I would do great as your only dog but would also do great sharing a home with another dog especially if he was a nice, smaller, non-dominant dog!

My prey drive is very strong, so I think I would go after kitties that run, so I should not go to a home with a kitty. It would not be fair to the kitty and probably not to me either!

Favorite Activities

  • Playing with my toys!
  • Chasing a ball!
  • Cuddling! And more cuddling!
  • Having my squishy face rubbed!
  • Being with people! Greeting people when they come home!

I am a healthy girl! All up to date on my vaccines, on heartworm preventive and spayed!

I will bring you so much joy! I will give you so much love! I hope for a family that is active, loves to take walks, want to throw toys for me, and wants me to snuggle with them on the couch and in bed! Also people who will be understanding in the early weeks or months that I might be worried that they might leave me. If you could just be reassuring and understanding, I would be so grateful.

If you are interested in adopting me, please contact Susan at Rainbow of Hope Animal Rescue (contact info: 607-562-8085 and get an application.
