Hello! We are super sweet and friendly, love people, mellow, curious, fun and low-key pups!

History

We were surrendered together to a high-kill shelter in Kentucky when our family could no longer take care of us. We are a bonded pair, very sweet together, and would love to be adopted together if possible!! We are delightful puppers and very low maintenance!

Personality

We are both incredibly sweet, friendly and delightful small dogs! We love to pal around together, snuggle on dog beds together, and go outside in a fenced yard to investigate the world together! We are completely housebroken, have very nice manners, and don’t do anything destructive at all. Everyone keeps telling us what gems we are!

We do however definitely have distinct personalities, so here is some more specific detail about each of us!
Gizmo! Like my best friend Mike, I am very friendly, very sweet-natured, and easygoing. And we both love people very much! Compared to Mike though, I am the more playful and independent pupper. I love playing with toys! My favorite toy is a stuffed cloth ring that I throw up in the air and then chase and pounce on–it makes my foster mom laugh all the time! I like stuffed animal toys too, and love it if you want to throw a toy for me! I am also an enthusiastic squirrel chaser (in our fenced yard), and will even occasionally give a good yapping to the deer that meander by outside of our yard, telling them “Go away deer, this is our yard!” When in the house or in the fenced yard, sometimes I stick close to my foster mom, but other times I wander off to explore, to sniff, to see what’s going on. I’m a curious boy! As I am a bit older than Mike, I also like to snooze more of the day, and really super appreciate very soft dog beds. I might be a little bit achey in the joints, because I do cry out a bit if picked up, so the rescue folks have started me on joint supplements and will chat with the vet about adding something else if this doesn’t do the trick.

Mike! Like my best friend Gizmo (aka Gizzy), I am very friendly, very sweet-natured, and easygoing. And we both love people very much! Compared to Gizmo though, I am the more emotionally needy pupper. I would love nothing more than to snuggle in your lap all day long and always want to be wherever you are! I’m fine when you need to go out–I don’t have separation anxiety or anything like that– but when you are at home, I want to be right by your side, snuggled up next to you, or curled up on your lap! I leap right into my foster mom’s lap all the time, we snuggle and watch TV together every evening, with Gizmo curled up on a dog bed at our feet! I also really love soft, cuddly dog beds, and am so pleased that they are available in almost every room of our foster home! I don’t really have an interest in playing like Gizmo does, but I do have one hilarious habit. Whenever it’s time to go out into the yard or when it’s time to eat or get a treat, I do a super exuberant happy dance! I twirl ‘round and ‘round in circles, expressing such excitement and delight that I challenge you not to laugh out loud every time you see it!

Cohabitation

  • We love people! We are friendly with everyone!
  • We would be fine in a home with children over the age of 6. Because we are small and older, we would worry about being tripped over or fallen on in a home with younger kids.
  • We are very friendly with other dogs!
  • We are totally cool with cats!

Favorite Activities

  • Getting affection! Getting petted! Being talked to!
  • Going for walks on leash and exploring in our fenced yard!
  • Eating! Treats! Pills that are hidden inside of cream cheese!
  • Being part of a family!
  • Snuggling in your lap (Mike)!
  • Playing with toys (Gizmo)!

Medical

We went for a wellness exam last month soon after we arrived, and our awesome vet at Cornerstone Veterinary Clinic says we are in very good shape! We both had a few small irregularities on our blood work panels, but the vet says this could have been due to the stress of the last few months, so we are going to have it all rechecked next month. No one is worried about it, as we act so happy and healthy other than seeming a little achey sometimes, like when Gizmo gets picked up. Since most dogs our age have a bit of joint pain/arthritis, the rescue folks put us on a joint supplement, and will add on something else in a month or so if it seems indicated. Getting good nutrition and regular daily walks in the yard also help a lot! Otherwise, we are up to date on vaccines, are of course on heartworm and flea/tick preventive, and are doing great!

Summary

We are both very sweet boys who would love to find a home together. We will bring you much love and will make you smile and laugh all the time!
