History

Hello. My name is Junie and I’m an 11 year old Yorkie loving this new journey I am on. You see, I’ve spent my entire life in a puppy mill, in a cage making babies for my jailers to sell. It wasn’t an easy time, but you’d never guess that was my background. I don’t hold it against anyone. I’m just happy that I don’t have to do that anymore and I’m super curious about what life has to offer. I’m not afraid to check out new things – everything I’ve encountered so far has been great! I love other dogs, cats, kids, soft beds, dishes full of food, and snuggles. I’m not sure exactly what toys are for and I don’t do all my business outside yet, but I’m learning lots of stuff from my canine foster siblings. I rarely bark, but I do make this super cute humming noise when you pick me up. I’d love to sleep in bed with my human family, but I’m also content to sleep cuddled up to my dog friends. I like to follow you around so I don’t miss anything and when I want your attention, I lift my right paw up in a polite way that says, “Please pet me!” Because I had little vet care and bad nutrition, I don’t have any teeth left. But that’s OK. It means my tongue hangs out in an adorable way and that although I should eat soft food, I will gum up a crunchie if another dog leaves one behind! I have lots of energy, but also like to sleep. I’m very affectionate and would love to have a real family to call my own for the first time in my life. Could it be yours?

Application

In order to adopt Junie, you must have another small dog and fenced in yard.

Please note:
We currently adopt in the states of NY, NJ, Eastern PA, DE, and some areas in MD. We can not accept applications from other states at this time.

If you are interested in adopting Junie, please fill out the adoption application from Junie’s rescue, which you can find on their website at www.dutchcountryanimalrescue.org/adopt.html

Our adoption fees are on our application.

All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on rabies and DHPP, heartworm tested, treated for worms and fleas and most are microchipped.

We are not a shelter, we are 100% volunteer public charity. All of our dogs are in foster homes until they are adopted. Since we are not a shelter, we do not receive government funding. We are a public charity that relies solely on funds through our adoption fee, fundraisers, and private donations. Since we are 100% volunteer based, all funds collected go directly towards the rescue and vet costs of our dogs.

We take each rescue personally and spend a lot of effort trying to match the right dog to the right family. Thank you for considering one of our rescued dogs.
