History

I was adopted around 1 year old. The only thing I remember about being a young puppy is neglect and a lack of socialization with dogs and people. The lady that initially fostered me said I was basically abandoned in a garage as a puppy and no one paid any attention to me until she took me in.  I had a couple of bad lumps on my head. I used to shy away if someone lifted their hands quick or would pet me on the top of the head. I got over that shyness really quick (few weeks)! You would never know I had a rocky start at first. I love people so much and want to make you happy-happy-happy and be your best, most loving and loyal companion!

Personality

I love to be your friend! Humans are just the coolest thing to me! I’m a very loyal companion! I truly like to do whatever puts a smile on your face. I will listen when you call my name. I’m potty-trained. I’m not a barker (unless there is a new person at the door) and I won’t lick you to death. I’m a great mix of liking to play but also liking to chill. If you are in the yard, doing yard work, I will pick up sticks and keep myself occupied and entertained. If you’re mowing the lawn on riding mower, I might follow behind. I just like to be by your side! If it’s a rainy Sunday and you’re watching movies, cuddling with you and being by your side makes me just as content. My motto is: if it makes you happy it makes me happy! When I haven’t seen you in a while I will greet you at the door with a smile. Yes, I actually smile! I like to call it “cheesin’.”

I am super gentle with children. I can tell the difference between adults and the little ones. I think small children are even cooler than adults!! I like to be their protector in the most nurturing way possible. You can see that in the Youtube link attached with my bio. My dream home would one where I got to live with children! We have so much in common because we are curious and like to play! I will also lay at the foot of their bed and make sure they are safe at night. Awww!!!!!
I’m a very smart doggie. I know how to shake and sit. If you take the time to teach me something I will get it! Especially if you use treats to help me learn! I very good at listening when you call my name. This has to do with me wanting to please you! I also love treats and because I love you even more, I will take them gently from your hand.

I’ve won over the hearts of everyone that has ever met me. If you’re not a dog person, I have the ability to make you a dog person. Trust me… I’ve done it! I have the ability to connect with people beyond the capacity of a typical dog. I feel what you feel. This was first discovered when I helped my owner’s mom get through hard times when she was going through breast cancer. I was able to provide her with the love and affection when I could sense that she needed it the most. I knew when to be gentle and calm but also when to be goofy and silly to lift her spirits. Unfortunately I would have loved to stay with her but I have a hard time getting along with the other doggies living in the home.

Cohabitation

Dogs: I prefer not to share a home with another dog. However, I love to have short play dates outside on neutral territory with other dogs that like to play!
Cats: If you’re a cool cat we will get along! I’ve lived with cats and it’s worked. If you’re a cat that is particular and likes your own space, I might get on your nerves. If you tell me to leave the kitty alone I will listen!
Kids: Yes!!! I love kids. I will cuddle and be their protector. I’m super gentle with them and will be attached to their hips!

Favorite Activities

  • I love to cuddle! Sometimes I think I’m a lap dog! I will lay across your lap or lean on you for hugs!
  • I love to be outside to play and run! I like to watch the birds and bumble bees fly by! I prefer big yards– I will learn the boundaries if you train me.
  • I love being around people! People make me sooo happy! I especially love being around children!
  • I like to chill and chew toys! I enjoy downtime when you’re watching tv or reading a book. I need that down time because of how much I play during the day.
  • I will sleep in if you sleep in! If you let me sleep or take naps with you, I will lay with you until you’re ready to get up.
  • I like to be included on everything! I like to go for car rides and have play dates with dogs who enjoy to play for a couple hours.

Why I am looking for a new home

Right now I live with my older doggie brother and we don’t get along very well. My current human dad has tried a lot of things for us to get along, including working with a trainer for quite some time, but it’s just not working. My dream home would be living in a single-dog home so I can soak up all the attention. Part of the reason I need to live in a single dog family home comes from my past I think. I was not properly socialized and always had to compete for attention. Since I was neglected, I fear that sharing my life with another dog means I will be pushed out of the picture. I have NEVER ONCE shown aggression toward a human! NEVER. I’m so sweet to people, I just love you too much!

I also would prefer a home that doesn’t leave me alone for super long stretches at a time.

Medical

There are no current medical issues. I am up to date on all my shots and I’m neutered.

Summary

I am an incredibly, deeply, and wholly loving dog! I have an incredible amount of love and sweetness and affection to share with you…I can’t wait to meet you!
