History
I have had it rough! I was a 24/7 chained out dog, without reasonable shelter, all through the frigid NY winters. My current guardians saw me standing outside on an exceptionally freezing night (there were times when it was -35 degrees wind chill!) and decided to go talk to the people who owned me. Turns out they didn’t care about me one way or another, and were more than happy to let these nice strangers take me off their hands. Which they did! Amazing!! No more lonely outside life, no more freezing cold with no way to get warm, no more hunger in my belly (those people never fed me enough). That day that they happily took me out of that terrible place was the best day of my life! I love love love being a loved indoor companion!
Personality
My biggest personality trait is that I am extremely lovable! I just want your attention all day long, but am not pushy or bossy about it. If you are home and trying to relax, I will be right next to you with my head on your lap, looking at you with grateful eyes. If you have a bad day at work, I will be right there waiting for you when you walk in the door, happy to listen to you as long as you want to tell me about it. I will not bark, but I will run up to you and sit right next to your leg smiling up at you. I like to play with my younger dog friends, but I get tired sooner than them and would just like to cuddle!
I do love running outside and smelling the fresh air, but when it becomes nighttime, I just want to cuddle right next to you all night. I learn very fast and know many commands. I like to give high-fives and I will listen when you tell me to get off the couch, if I need to. But above all, I just want to nuzzle my snout closer and closer to you until you pet and cuddle with me!
Cohabitation
I absolutely love all kinds of adults and older kids. I love to be around people and want nothing more than to be petted. I love living with my ”girlfriend” dog – we play all the time together. We also will lie in bed together and just relax with our owners. I am not sure how I get along with other male dogs or cats yet, as I have not met any.

Why I am looking for a new home???
My mom has had me for a few months and is honestly head over heels in love with me and my big gooey lovey heart. The trouble is that due to some changed circumstances, some new folks are living with us including 4 toddlers (all under the age of 5), and the kids do not understand anything about respecting dogs’ things or their space, and will not listen to the adults in the house on the subject. Though I have mostly been very tolerant of their inappropriate antics, there was a day recently when first they were mercilessly taunting me with my marrow bones and wouldn’t stop when mom told them to. Then a couple of them (though mom told them not to) started crawling all over and on top of my head and body, and I had no way to get away. I was totally freaked out and ended up biting one of them, and then was so upset about having done so that I ran away as fast as I could as soon as they got off of me. Even after that just happened and mom put me in my crate to keep me and the kids safe, still one of the kids came over and was sticking her hands in my face through the crate bars. Ack! This is just not a safe environment for me or for the kids, since it’s not possible to keep a good enough eye on 4 little ones who won’t listen. Though it breaks mom’s heart, she knows I will be better off in a home without little kids, and she knows that she has to insure the safety of the children in her home. So, we are all in agreement that we will find me a great new home!! [Note: until I find that great new home, the kids and I are being kept totally separated. Luckily for me, they are only there a few days a week, and during those times, I get to hang out in the bedroom with the other dog and all of our toys. With the door locked! Whew!
Summary
I really would enjoy a home with adults and older kids who just love to “chill” and relax with me. There is nothing I would love more than to be in a fenced in yard or have a long runner. I do love the occasional exercise and love having large yards. I cannot wait to meet my new family!
