Coco

*****This is not a CDR dog and has not been evaluated by CDR.*****
This is a courtesy posting for the Friends of the Schuyler County Animal Shelter.

Hi!  My name is Coco and I am a 9 year old female hound mix looking for a very special home.  I came into the shelter after being confiscated from my owner because of neglect.  I weighed 26 pounds and was frozen to the ground when I was found.

I have been at the shelter since January 19th and they have been nursing me back to health…I never knew humans could be so kind!  I just love being loved! …I am now 60 pounds and fully vaccinated.

I have already had one operation to remove some mammary tumors and do have to have one more surgery to have the remaining ones removed on June 5 and to be spayed, but once they are removed, my future looks bright.

I am very, very friendly with all people including children but sometimes I am cautious in meeting other dogs, especially small ones…you really gotta watch the small ones because they are quick and can take your feet right out from under you if you aren't careful!

I have never been around cats but remember I am a hound…so I am bred with a bit of a prey drive!  I guess I just would have to see one to know how I feel about them.  I am very sweet and just longing for a human companion that won't hurt or betray me…could you be that person…if so please call the Friends of the Schuyler County Animal Shelter at 607-562-8085.

CDR wishes that we could take all dogs in need into our foster care program, but unfortunately all of our foster homes are full.  Instead, we would like to help by making the community aware of regional shelters in need.  Shelters such as this one are often overlooked and under-visited, even though they are filled with dogs just as nice and sweet and needy and loving as is our local shelter.

The Friends of the Schuyler County Animal Shelter in Watkins Glen is always looking donations of blankets, rubber backed floor mats, dog beds, and the dogs especially loves goodies such as Kong toys and Rawhides.

If you would like to learn more about Coco or the other super dogs at Schuyler, or
