SPONSOR ME!
Hello, my name is Magellan, and I am an 11-year old, male,
Tricolor Beagle with a heart of gold. I was rescued from
a regional shelter where I ended up after what everyone
thinks must have been a very long journey. I was extremely
thin, tired, and looked like "something the cat dragged
in." The rescue folks are pretty sure that I was
someone's outdoor hunting dog, and that I did not receive
regular medical care or adequate nutrition throughout my
life.
I'm in a loving CDR foster home now, and it's like
I'm in heaven. I am fed nutritious food every day (plenty
of it!), have wonderful soft beds to rest and sleep on,
get loads of love and hugs and snuggles and attention, and
have a fenced yard in which to wander around.
I am
feeling loads better. Unfortunately, I have lung disease,
which makes me cough a lot and sometimes it is difficult
for me to get comfortable even on the plushest dog beds
you have ever seen! I take medications everyday to make
my chest feel better, to help my aging joints, and to help
me get a good nights sleep. I am so appreciative for the
care, but I hear my foster mom talk about how expensive it
is, but she can't imagine a more deserving dog than I.
I
am currently not neutered because the doctor says it is
too risky to put me under anesthesia, but I am good boy
and do all my marking outside. You know what else is
incredibly great about my current life? I never have to
be on a chain again! I get to roam around a big fenced
yard and smell bunny trails to my heart's content!
Since
I am still underweight, I get to have all the treats a
Beagle could want, and I even get to sleep on the couch!
The other day, I went for a short walk at the lake and
really enjoyed wading in the water and laying on the dock
in the sun and then taking a nap in the bushes!! (Isn't that a cute
photo of me poking my head out of the bushes after my nap?) I could
not ask for a better way to retire.
I hope that I get well enough to someday be adopted, but
if that doesn't happen, CDR and my foster mom have
promised that I can live out my days in my foster home.
I'm so thankful.
Though I'm a little guy, I'm a pretty
expensive little guy, and the rescue folks would be so
appreciative if you could sponsor me and help with my
care. $30 would buy some nutritious food and treats for
me, $50 would cover some of my medications, and $100 would
be used toward my bill at the vet for x-rays and
blood work. If you can sponsor me at a $50 or higher
level, my foster mom will be delighted to send you a
monthly update on how I'm doing! You can sponsor me by
sending a check made out to Cayuga Dog Rescue (write in
the note section of your check that it's for me!) to:

Thank you so much for your generosity and caring. It does
a boy good!
Sending snuggles to you,
Magellan
Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and
young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with
young children. If you think your particular situation might warrant an
exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
