Jake

Hi everybody!  My name is Jake, and I am a sweet and adorable 10-12 month old Mixed breed pup who weighs only 20 pounds full-grown!  I spent my first many months as an outdoor dog with my mom and littermates, so I'm super comfortable with dogs, but just a little bit shy with people.

Since getting rescued and put in a wonderful foster home though, I'm coming out of my shell and discovering how wonderful people can be!  I'm a spunky little guy with a very sweet temperament and a newly discovered love of cuddling.  I'm a bit shy when I meet new people, but once I get to know you and find that you are gentle and kind, I warm right up and my loveable, loving little spirit comes out.

I love to be by the side of my foster mom and foster dad, but I don't get upset when they leave.  I love my crate and do really well in it when mom and dad are not at home.  Dad says that I snore (I don't believe it!) and since he's such a light sleeper, they moved my crate downstairs for sleeping at night, and I'm fine, though I miss sleeping next to them.

Mom says that I'm very goofy, and that they often find me looking at them, wagging my tail and shaking my head with my tongue hanging out.  They can't quite figure out what I'm thinking, and I'm not telling!  Mom also says that I listen very well, and that I love bones, toys, playing with other dogs and cats, and cuddling and going for walks.

I'm neutered, healthy, totally housebroken and crate trained. I have learned lots of
indoor manners, basic commands, and leash walking.  I play all day long with my foster dog brother and believe it or not, I play really sweetly with the cat too!  The cat lays on his back and I pretend to play-gnaw on it while it hugs me around the neck.  It's very adorable.

Other than being shy with strangers, I'm kind of scared of loud noises.  I run and hide.  Last time my foster mom dropped a dish on the floor and it shattered, I hid behind the couch for 20 minutes!  I am looking for a home that is generally calm (i.e., doesn't have kids running around screaming!) and people that are loving, gentle,
patient, and sweet (just like me).  If you think you are interested in me, please fill out an adoption application for me today and live within 1 hour of Ithaca, NY.  The rescue folks do home visits on every applicant, and they can't travel farther than that.
