Eli

Yes, we are VERY MUCH in love with this sweet boy.  He is so affectionate--it still amazes Keith and I how much affection he offers and how he loves to cuddle.

He and Magnum have become friends.  They actually wear each other out playing so hard together.  Eli challenges Chance occasionally but Chance only has to look at Eli and Eli backs down.

Eli now sleeps on our bed when there is enough room.  He takes turns with Chance for our bed.  Other wise it's Chance and Magnum on the bed or Magnum and Eli on the bed and Chance on the floor next to the bed or Eli on his doggie bed next to our bed.  The only one consistently on the bed is Magnum!  Maybe we need a king size bed? :-)

Eli is also doing better with our kitty.  He and Magnum are very similar in their behavior with her so I have to chastise them both occasionally but both have even slept on the bed with the kitty and have touched noses with her.

I am working on getting Eli to bring me the Kong toy.  This seems to be his favorite toy but he does not like to give it back to me.  I want to train him to play fetch as well.  I knew a day or two ago that we had reached new levels with Eli when he was on his back writhing joyfully on the floor and playing and tossing the kong up in the air and getting it.  It was so good to see him this happy.

Now when we all watch TV he's either on the couch with us and Magnum or on the floor near Chance, us and Magnum.  In the first few days he hung out in the kitchen so I now feel he's really feeling part of the pack.

We've also gone for many enjoyable walks as well and need to work with him to not pull. We got a harness but did not get the type you had--I think we'll be getting one.

He's getting much better at coming when called. We're using food and happy voices to reinforce coming when called.  I'll try to get some pictures of them all out in the yard playing.  They chase each other.  It's so much fun to watch.

Please, any time you both would like to come and visit let us know.  We'd love you to see how well he's doing. We praise all of your efforts with him as foster moms!

UPDATE!
March, 2006

Hi.  My name is Eli. I've been in my forever home since January 2006. I have two big brothers who play with me all day long while our mom and dad are at work.

Here I am with my brother Magnum waiting for a yummy treat.
(I'm the handsome guy on the left.)  We all are very smart. We've learned down stays and leave it.  We've also manage to pick the right hand that the treat is in.

We are getting along famously.  I'm a bit shy around my biggest brother Chance.  He puts me in my place now and then but that's OK.  Magnum and I run and play and have so much fun.  I have been spotted even sleeping with the cat on the couch at night.  I've made so many friends here.

I love to greet my mom and dad by giving them great hugs when they come home.  We go on lots of walks and I am learning to heel.  I'm also getting a bit more confident when mom and dad pet me.  I am even letting them brush me.  It feels soooo good and I look so handsome afterwards!

Here's a picture of me smiling at my mom.  I love her so!

It took some time to get used to my big brothers and kitties and to know that mom and dad are my forever people. Now we are all one big happy family. Thanks to the hard work and patience of my foster moms and my forever parents--the transition was fairly smooth after a bit of a rocky start.

Thank you Cayuga Dog Rescue for bringing us together!
