Sylvie

Hi! My name is Sylvie, and I am a super wonderful, friendly, funny, bouncy and loving 10 month-old, spayed female, Shepherd/Lab mix! I am a very friendly and affectionate girl and seem to really like everyone I meet. I love snuggling and being petted and find ear scratches and belly rubs to be the best! When I'm not cuddling and being petted, I love to go for walks and runs and to play with my sister Enye! I have a good strong moderate energy level, and am bouncy and silly. I taught myself how to retrieve...I throw or roll my squeaky ball off of the couch, leap off and pounce on it, then get back on the couch and do it again! It's super cute.

My foster mom says that both my sister and I have a terrific temperament and that I have a super cute head tilt that I do when I am curiously watching something. My foster family is working with me on how to walk nicely on leash, and I am doing ok though it's hard not to just go, go, go! My housebreaking was just started but is going well and I'm learning some basic commands like "sit". I love picking things up in my mouth and I love chewing! I'm learning the difference between toys and "things I'm not supposed to chew" but if I'm like most Labs, this learning will continue for several years.

I'm good in a crate and behave well in the car once you get me in (but I don't love getting in), though I drool a lot while in transit which probably means that it upsets my tummy. I'm good with cats and am a bit dominant with other dogs so introductions to other dogs need to be thoughtful and I will need time to get to know dogs before I will consider them friends. I would probably do just fine in a home with another dog if he/she was on the submissive side, but it might not work so well if he/she was also a dominant type of pooch. If you think you might like to adopt me, please read about the adoption process today and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
