Sammy Has Been Adopted!
Hi everyone!! My name is Sammy, and I am a very cute, very sweet, very affectionate 1 year-old, 22 pound, neutered male Corgi/Beagle mix! I was saved from a high-kill shelter in OH and am so happy to be in a great CDR foster home!
Let me tell you all about myself. I am a very curious little guy, and find everything that goes on around me absolutely fascinating. I am a big snuggle bunny and am very loving. I follow my people around like a little puppy dog and am so delighted to get to be near them. I love attention!! I also dearly love tummy scratches, ear scratches, and neck scratches. I'm also very motivated (training wise), due to my great focus on my people, my curiosity and interest in learning, and my great love of treats! I am learning some cool new behaviors like "sit" and "lay dow" and am doing very well. I'm also being crate trained, and am doing well with that too!
There are 2 other dogs in my foster house (terriers), and we get along well. One is friendly and so we play together and sleep together a lot (he is in the picture with me), and the other wants to be left alone so I respect that. There is an outdoor cat that I get to see sometimes, and do not seem aggressive toward him at all. I'm not a big barker at all, and I get a little nervous if anyone near me raises their voice, whether it is directed at me or not. The rescue folks say this means I'm a little "soft" and that folks have to be careful to teach me with lots of positive methods, and to scold very gently if there is ever a need, because that will do the trick, no problem! I'm not yet fully potty trained, but my foster parents are working on it with me, and since I'm a smart little fella, I'm sure I will get it soon enough.
I'm pretty happy/excited about everything and I'm a good eater! I also love anything I can play with, so a house full of toys is like heaven to me. I go to bed when my foster parents do and love that they let me snuggle up with them in bed. I can entertain myself, or go lay down by myself but really prefer to be with other people.
I'm a healthy, great little guy, that with a little guidance and training, is going to be a phenomenal dog. If you think you might like to adopt me, please read about the adoption process today and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.
