Cara Has Been Aopted!

**Cara is not a CDR dog and has not been evaluated by CDR. However, her mom is a colleague of ours, and she is a super great person so we trust everything she says about Cara!

Hi! My name is Cara, and I am a super adorable, super sweet, super friendly, loving, and affectionate, 5 month-old, female Lab/Border Collie mix! I was rescued as an 8-week old pup and have been living with a great mom ever since. When she adopted me, she thought she was ready to have a new pup in her life, but the heartbreaking year she has just been through exhausted her more than she realized. Though it pains her to look for a new home for me, she thinks I will be happier in a home where folks are around more and have more energy for me than she currently does.

So let me tell you all about me! I love people and have a playful, affectionate, and exuberant little personality that people melt over. :) I love belly rubs, ear scratchies, following my mommy around from room to room and sitting at her feet when she is hanging out. I have a lot of "puppy" in me, which you can tell from my strong need for play, my zooming around, my love of playing with other dogs, and my endless fascination and enthusiasm about just about everything. I love getting my mom's attention and am smart and learning things really well. I am working on sit, wait, coming when called, and that the bathroom is outdoors, not indoors (at this point I can "hold it" for about 4 hours and only have occasional accidents). I'm doing great at it all! I really love other dogs, and love running around with and wrestling with them. I also love cats, but am relentless in trying to get them to play with me, so my mom thinks maybe a home without cats would be best for me. Right now there are no other dogs in my house to play with--the cats are all I've got--but maybe if I had another dog to play with, maybe I would lay off the cats? We're not sure!

I love my stuffed animal toys and I also love playing in water (streams or ponds are the best). I went on my first long hike on trails the other day and had a total blast. I was fine off-leash (I always come when called except for when I got that dead chipmunk, but come on, who would leave a wonderful dead chipmunk?). When I'm excited and having a "puppy moment," I run around the yard in big circles, and then love to roll and frolic in the grass.

I have never shown any signs of aggression whatsoever. I am crate trained, and while I don't love being in the crate, if you give me a Kong stuffed with yummy food or peanut butter when you put me in it, I settle well. I love running, and I run just like a border collie, which if you don't know, is a full out ZOOM! I'm very smart and eager to learn and would love to be taken to a positive methods dog training class and then to agility classes!! I bet I would be a superstar!

If you think you might like to adopt me, please fill out an adoption application and the rescue folks will forward it to my foster mommy!

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
