Buddy Has Been Adopted!

Hi, my name is Buddy, and I am a 4-6 year-old, 60+ pound, neutered male Black Lab mix! I am a super happy, sweet, friendly, easygoing and big-hearted boy!!

I came all the way from an overcrowded shelter in KY where I was surrendered because my family had to move to an apartment that didn't allow pets. They loved me very much though, which is why I'm such a happy, well-adjusted boy...thank goodness they will never know that I was almost euthanized due to overcrowding! And now here I am in Central NY and life is great!

I am a very affectionate boy...I love to be petted and I will gently nuzzle your hand to ask for more when you stop. Most of the time though when I want your attention, I sit nearby and gaze at you with my big light brown eyes, which my foster mom says are super beautiful and are hard to resist. She also says that I have a luscious thick coat, and that maybe it means that I am mixed with a thick-coated dog like a Newfoundland or Husky.

My foster mom says I am the perfect family dog...I am housebroken, calm and mild-mannered. I am in a home now with two other dogs and three cats and I get along with everybody really well. I don't play (in the traditional sense) with the other dogs, but I do love running around the yard with them, in hot pursuit of some squirrel or interesting noise, and seem happy to just hang out with them. I'm not much of a barker, but will bark when someone walks by the yard or comes to the house. I quiet quickly once it's clear all is OK!

My favorite thing about my foster home is that there are so many toys for me to play with!! I love toys! Squeaky toys, rubber toys, sterilized bones, tennis balls, ropes, I like them all! In fact, we have a "toy box" in my foster home, and every night I pull out almost every single toy and play with them all. As much as I love toys, I know better than to play with anything that's not mine. And I know "sit", "shake" and "lay". My foster mom knows my routine used to consist of sitting and shaking for my food because I automatically do it whenever it's time to eat without being told! She thought that was pretty cute. She also thinks it's cute that I roll on my back in the living room rug at night, and tend to utter these contented moans when I stretch out on the floor. Sometimes I just like laying on my back all stretched out. I also have my own bed at night which I've never had before, but I like very much!

I'm very healthy, housebroken, have great manners, and love every person or creature I have met. If you are looking for a happy, loving, easygoing companion, I think you've found me! If you think you might like to adopt me, please read about the adoption process today and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
