Cayuga Dog Rescue ~ Aldrin

Hi my name is Aldrin, they named me after "Buzz" and I am a terrific 7 year-old, neutered male, purebred Tricolor Beagle! I am as handsome as they come, am very muscular and in great shape!

I was rescued from a high-kill shelter in KY and I am absolutely thrilled to be in this fantastic foster home filled with other dogs! Though it's really new for me (I was an outdoor dog in KY), I am finding that I really like getting personal attention! I am also completely house broken and crate trained.

I am in search of quite a special home, you see I am a major escape artist. I am not trying to run away I am just in search of my favorite treat....the smell of rabbits. I am a great hunting beagle and my foster mom lets me run rabbits when we are in a safe location. But it is never enough for me! I can dig under and climb over all types of fences, and I can slip my collar easily if I am put on a cable run. So I have to be under very strict supervision when I am outside or I will run off in search of my delight!

I also need a fair amount of exercise so if you are not going to take me hunting in a safe place I will need plenty of walks or runs to get my sniffing time in. I am fantastic with all animals, I love the chickens here and occasionally lay in the sun with them, and I get along great with all the dogs here. I have not met a cat indoors yet but I have never chased the ones that occasionally pass me by outside. Obviously it would not be a good idea for you to have a pet rabbit though!

Although I would make a great partner for a novice or experienced rabbit hunter (yes they tell me I am that good!) I am looking for a permanent home where I will be an indoor dog only. You see as I am getting a bit older I only like to hunt in my leisure time and the rest of the time I enjoy sleeping on a doggy bed or to be curled up on a special chair in search of a ray of sunshine coming in, or chewing a favorite bone or Kong! This is how we all should retire!!

So you are not a hunter but you sure would like a beagle? I just might be the guy for you. I would love to show you what we Beagles love to do, and then come and cuddle with you the rest of the day. Sometimes I like to bury my toys outside, my foster Mom has never had a dog that buried things before so she thinks its funny! I always remember where they are the next day and then I go retrieve them and bring them to her.

The vet thinks I am around 7 years old but don't let that fool you, my best friend here is a two year old beagle and I can keep up with him any day! I really need a permanent home that either has a fenced-in yard, or has someone in it who is willing to take me for lots of walks, but either way I will need a lot of supervision. I love going for walks and I love sniffing around for critters.
