Riley Has Been Adopted!

***Riley is not a CDR dog and has not been evaluated by CDR. This is a courtesy posting for Riley’s mom, who will make all decisions about Riley’s placement. To apply for Riley, fill out an online adoption application and the rescue folks will forward it to my mom, who will be in touch!***

Hi my name is Riley, and I am an incredibly adorable little pupster!

Personality:

Hi everyone! I am Riley and I am a healthy, adorable, sweet and cuddly love bug! I love people, love your attention, love your petting and fussing and kisses, love snuggling, and I will give you all the kisses in return that you can stand!

I'm very playful but have no problem cuddling on the couch watching movies too! I like to go for walks and car rides, and I love to visit the people at Petsmart, Lowes and Tractor Supply! I would love to have a yard that's fenced in so I can explore. I enjoy playing with stuffed animals and really enjoy fetch with tennis balls (especially the balls with the squeakers in them)! I love when we have company over, I find people fascinating and wonderful, though mom says I need a little work on “personal space” because I just want to kiss everyone!

I’m a smart little guy. I know the following commands (though you might have to give me a refresher course complete with lots of treats): Sit, Stay, Come, House, Wait, Down, Up! That’s pretty good for only being 2 years old, right?

My hair can get very long and my mom says I need consistent grooming. Truth be told, I hate being groomed, and I “work it” by giving her the saddest face I can make! If you've seen my big brown eyes you'd understand exactly what I'm talking about. I’ll give you a tip though…if you groom me in small doses, and give me treats while I am being groomed, it’s not so bad! Or you can take me to a groomer and let the pros do their magic!

My mom has me on a grain free diet which she says is best for me. She also gives me raw marrow bones as a special treat which I love and is very good for my teeth! I don't like to go outside when it's raining and cold, so I would be happy if we kept our walks short on those days, and if you put a nice jacket on me to keep me warm!

Cohabitation/Reason I am looking for a new home

So why is a super awesome young boy like me looking for a new home? Well…I’m currently in a home with 4 other dogs…one is a small female and she and I get along well. The other 3 are large males, and I do not like them! It seems that I can’t tolerate sharing a house with another male. I really need to be the boss, and that’s a dangerous situation. Before there is any tragedy, and in order to let the other dogs have a better quality of life (i.e., not have me growling and snarking at them all the time), we all decided to find me a great new home where I can either be the only dog, or share the house with another small female. When I visit my “grandma’s house”, there are 2 small female dogs there and we do just fine!

I love cats and enjoy cuddling with them!

I seem to love all people! I am good with kids over 6!

Ideal Home:

Mom says I would do best with someone who is around a lot because I'm used to my mom being home all the time. I need someone who can spend lots of time with me and take me for walks, playtime, and hair cuts! I also love children, especially little girls (ages 6 and up) who want to fuss with me!! I'm not yet neutered, so if you decide to adopt me, you will need to have me neutered first thing!

To apply to adopt me, fill out an adoption application and the rescue folks will forward it to my mom!

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
