Willy Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Willy, and I am an adorable, incredibly good-natured, friendly, and very playful male puppy!

Personality:

I am a hoot! I have lots of curiosity, interest, and playful puppy energy! I love exploring everything that is going on in the house, seeing what the other dogs and cats are up to, and finding a way to make every moment fun-fun-fun!

I am quite affectionate—I love to cuddle and give and get kisses—but I’m not a “lap dog” kind of dog, meaning I would rather be up and playing and running around than sitting in your lap watching a movie!

I absolutely love to run and chase things! I delight in chasing other dogs, even if they are 10 times bigger than me! I also love chasing a tennis ball that you throw for me! And if you’re tired of throwing balls, I go into “soccer player mode” and kick the tennis ball myself and then go and chase it down! One hilarious thing I do is that if a ball disappears under a couch or chair, I don’t just stand there barking at the couch or chair like some dogs I’ve heard about…I happily dive under after it, and resurface a few seconds later with the ball (and some dust bunnies)! Voila!

I love to go for walks and I really love to run fast! And wow, fast I am! I need a fenced yard and/or a dedicated jogging partner and lots of playtime with other dogs! I don’t appear to be a dog who will trustworthy off-leash, so keep that in mind please!

I’m smart! I am showing myself to be very responsive to positive training, and am already learning some basic commands. I know what it means when my foster mom picks up my food bowl…it means it’s meal time! As soon as I see her do this, I race to the mud room and wait there because that’s my eating spot! Smart, right? I’m not housebroken yet, but am making good progress, and hope that in another 4 weeks or so I will fully have the hang of it.

I am also silly! For instance, I will intently watch my reflection in the window, and will growl at “the interloper” until something else attracts my attention. This cracks up the humans in my foster home. Someday I will figure out why! I’m not much of a barker and am quiet through the night unless I need to get up and go out for a pee!

Cohabitation:

I am very even-tempered and easygoing with the other animals in the house (2 dogs and 2 cats), and though I wish that they would play with me all the time, I’m respectful when they aren’t in the mood. They’re much older than me, so I understand.

Medical:

The great vets at Cornerstone Vet Clinic say I am in tip-top shape! They gave me a round of puppy shots and invited me back in a month for another round. They were so nice to me, I am excited to go back and see them again!

Summary:

I’m all all-around fabulous pupster! I am high energy, so am looking for an active home preferably with another playful younger dog and a person or people with loads of love to give and who like to laugh a lot!

If you are interested in adopting Willy, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
