Noodles Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Noodles and I am a very silly, adorable, sweet, and super friendly, 9 month old, neutered male Giant Schnauzer/Great Pyrenees mix! The rescue folks say I look like a cartoon character--so cute and fuzzy and sort of ridiculously adorable, which I really like to hear, because they have such a nice tone when they say it!

Background:

I have a bit of a different history than most of the dogs in this rescue--I was not stray, and I was not abandoned at a high-kill shelter. Me and my brother were owned by a nice enough person in KY who didn’t mistreat us, but didn’t have much time or resources for us. Finances got tough so she decided to find us a new home, and put a “Free Dogs!” ad out online. The super nice rescue lady in KY who works a lot with Cayuga Dog Rescue always calls people who have these “free dog” ads posted because dog fighting is a big problem in KY and one way that awful people get dogs to use in their dog fights, is to go and collect “free dogs” from posted ads. So, this great rescue lady calls the folks posting these ads and explains the dangers of just giving their dog to anyone who shows up, and encourages them to screen potential new owners carefully. Our former owner explained that she had no time to screen and she was prepared to give me and my sister to the first people who showed up wanting us. So the nice rescue lady went and got us! She immediately called her favorite rescues, and got each to take one of us and that’s how I got here! Whew! Talk about close calls!

Personality:

I am a super happy, super friendly, super silly, big ol’ playful puppy! I am happy-happy-happy! I am being fostered at the wonderful, glorious, awesome Bed and Biscuit Kennel and I love playing with all of the other dogs throughout the day! I love chasing them around and I equally love being chased by them! So much fun!

I’m very curious about everything and would love to explore the world with you and have you teach me all about it!

I’m very friendly, which at current, means I am delighted to see you and make your acquaintance, and I love to greet you with happy, enthusiastic jump ups! It’s a little confusing to me that the people don’t always seem to love being jumped up on, because other dogs think it’s just a super way to be greeted. If someone explained how they’d rather be greeted, and gave me lots of praise when I did it that other way, I am sure I would learn to be a gentler greeter in no time!!

I’m absolutely still a puppy, and do all the normal puppy things like picking up whatever object I find and carrying it around very proudly! So far, I don’t seem to have a need to chew anything up or destroy anything, but I sure do like toting things from place to place! At the kennel, I have an indoor and an outdoor run, and the kennel owners often find that I have moved all of my bedding outside, through the little doggy door! They think that I am just playing with it, throwing it around and pouncing on it here and there, though they haven't yet caught sight of me doing it!

I appear to be housebroken! Most dogs at the kennel will pee and poop in their outdoor run, while keeping their indoor run clean, but I keep BOTH my indoor AND my outdoor run 100% clean! I am happy to go on car rides and was fine getting a bath, having my nails clipped, and being poked and prodded at the vet’s office!

Favorite Activities

Cohabitation

I have been wonderful with all of the dogs at the kennel and am also very good with cats. I get to be in large social play groups with dogs every day, and have had no trouble with anyone. I do like to hump the other dogs at times, but I stop when told to stop, either by the dog or by the kennel staff.

I did have a small scuffle with 1 (male) dog the very first night I arrived (before I went to the kennel), but it was after a 12 hour transport and I was so confused and stressed that the rescue folks aren’t making much of it.

Summary

I’m a super dog! I will be a perfect fit for folks who want a young, fun, curious and playful dog. I’m hoping for folks who want to take me on good walks, let me play with other nice dogs, take me to the dog park, and introduce me to lots of adventures! I would love to do some positive training classes with you! I have a very sweet and trusting personality, so need people who are fun-loving and caring and patient with my minor puppy antics. I would love either a fenced yard, or active people who wanted to be out with me on leashed walks or hikes or jogs. I’m really looking forward to sharing lots of love and joy with you!

If you are interested in me, please read about the adoption process today and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
