Pooh Bear Has Been Adopted!
Hi! My name is Pooh Bear and I am a very sweet, mellow, and incredibly adorable 14 year old, 15 pound, neutered, male Poodle mix! I am looking for a new home with lots of love and kisses for my golden years!
- Quick Fact Sheet:
- Breed: Poodle mix…. Many people have tried to guess my unique mix, but I’m keeping that to myself for now... Some say part poodle, part terrier, or maybe even part schipperke!
- Age: approximately 14
- Weight: 15 pounds
- Neutered: yes
- Good with dogs: Yes!
- Good with cats: Yes!
- Good with kids: Probably older, gentle kids since I am not a big player
- Special notes: see Medical and Background
Background:
I was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Tennessee. My owner could no longer care for me, so I was taken to the shelter, which was awfully sad for a sweet older boy like me. Luckily I was chosen for the CDR foster program and headed to Ithaca to find my new home!
Personality:
I am a very mellow and adorable guy. If you are looking for a low-key sweetheart, I am the one for you! My favorite thing is going for a walk. I get so excited at walk time that I jump for joy – my foster mom and dad call it my “happy dance”! My second favorite thing is to be near my people. I like to curl up on the couch or in bed with you (I really need to sleep in bed with someone!) and settle in for a nice nap. I also like to follow my foster mom all around the house…it’s comforting to be near her. I enjoy a little snuggle or belly rub, too. Sometimes I give kisses, and they are not wet or drooly at all! If my people are busy or out of the house, I’ll happily settle in my nice soft doggie bed on the floor.
While I am generally very mellow, I do get these wonderful bursts of energy during which I zip around the house, play with my favorite toy, and chase my foster mom in circles. It’s super fun, and it makes my foster parents laugh. I like to play with other dogs too!
I love to spend time outside…just chilling on the back porch, or roaming around the big fenced yard. Rolling in the grass feels so good! I also enjoy going for rides in the car, especially if I am going to the dog park. I love to go there and see who I can find to play with!
I am living in my foster home with another older male poodle. We don't pay much attention to one another but we coexist beautifully. I am well behaved in the house when the family is gone. I have free roam, and don't do anything wrong. I don't seem to know any commands, but I like to communicate with my people with long looks and little barks. I will bark A LOT if someone plays the piano, so I don’t think that would be a great fit for me! I am housebroken and will wait by the door when I need to go out!
My foster mom took me to the groomer and I was so well behaved! I didn't give her any trouble at all, even when she trimmed my nails.
Medical:
I had a visit to the vet and they said I am in very good shape for my age! My eyes have a blue film on them but it does not--and will not ever--affect my vision at all. It is called nuclear sclerosis and is just age related. I am a little hard of hearing but that also comes with age. My teeth and gums are pretty normal for my age and breed and my coat is going to be nice and plush once it grows back in!
If you are looking for an incredibly sweet older boy, who is going to be no trouble and give you a lot of love and smiles, I am him!! :) If you are interested in me, please read about the adoption process today and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.
