Juliet Has Been Adopted!
Hi everyone! My name is Juliet and I am a very sweet, very wiggly-happy, very loving, and gentle, 35 pound, spayed female Border Collie mix! Currently I live with my foster parents in Ithaca and their 65 pound black lab mix, Max, and another foster dog, a 15 pound male named Dasher (see his profile!). I get along fabulously with both of them and I'm also great with cats!
Here are some things about me:
- I love attention! If my foster mom or dad call my name (or Max or Dasher’s name!), I come ZOOMING from wherever I was napping and put my paws up on them (gently) and push my head under their hand or arm and get very wiggly! I love belly rubs and all sorts of petting and massage. I also love hanging out with everyone in the house, cuddling with the other two dogs and learning so many new things. I'm also pretty independent though, not a needy dog at all. So while I love attention, I'm also super content to do my own thing and entertain myself and just chill out and watch the world go by from a soft dog bed. You don't need to attend to me all day long by any means, just sometimes!
- I LOVE going for walks and am spectacular on a leash!! My foster mom loves that I don’t pull on leash at all, and she loves how happy going out for walks makes me. I used to get nervous and crouch down when a loud car passed by, but I have now learned that they mean no harm and so don't bat an eyelash anymore. I do still get nervous about new, strange loud noises, so I just need some patience and reassurance when I get scared.
- I love going for hikes and have so far shown a lot of interest in squirrels! J But if you keep on walking,I will forget about them soon enough. I am an excellent companion outdoors but it's best to keep me in a harness or martingale collar because sometimes when I get excited (such as if I romp through the snow and get the 'zoomies') I will try to spin and scoot backwards and could accidentally back out of my collar which would be dangerous. Since my prey drive (for squirrels) is so high, I probably need to stay on leash with you outside.
- I am a quiet girl! Even when the boy dogs are being all barky or howly about something or other, I am quiet. Almost no barking at all! Very occasionally for no apparent reason I will give a funny honk and it is hilarious. I am crate-trained (will go in happily for a treat!) and will wait patiently and quietly when you let me out. And then I will ecstatically wiggle and perform great leaps to show you how happy I am to see you!
- I love activity- the more the better!! I enjoy the dog park and play really well with dogs who have a similar play style as me (jump and leap and wiggle and wrestle). I have the most amazing lateral leaps and jumps and seem to enjoy playing with female dogs even more than males, but males are good too! I mostly reserve my playing for outdoors…I don't so much play in the house, but choose to lounge on a dog bed while the boy dogs have their epic play battles that span multiple floors of the house. And while I settle down very nicely in the house after a nice romp, I really do need to have enough play outdoors and it would be great if you had a fenced-in yard or promised to take me to the dog park regularly.
- I like to snuggle with other dogs!! When I first came to my foster home, it took me about 4 days to feel safe and adjusted, and during those first days, I spent a lot of time underneath my foster dad’s desk! Not all the time, but I decided it was my “safe place” so I hung there a lot. Once I got adjusted, all was fine, and now my favorite place to lay is on this great dog bed cuddling with max and dasher! The three of us snuggle all in one bed, even though there are plenty of dog beds all over the house. We’re just like that…very affectionate and sweet!
- Very sweet, gentle, submissive, on the shy side.I am at risk of getting out the front or back door if you’re not careful! Since I think going out for walks is about the best thing ever, every time anyone approaches a door, I think “whoo hoo! Time to go for a walk” and try to be the first one out. My foster parents are working on “wait” with me and I’m getting much better, but you need to keep an eye on me! They are also working on helping me to not jump up on people so much, but say that my enthusiasm and natural affection for people is making that one a bit more challenging!
I’m a phenomenal overall dog and am looking for a home either a) with another young, playful, affectionate dog in it OR b) where I will get taken to the dog park or on playdates with your friends’ dogs regularly! I also hope for a home with people who love to walk and hike and would enjoy playing with me and teaching me things!
