Chloe Has Been Adopted!

Hi everyone! I hope you are happy to meet me, Little Miss Chloe! I'm a pint-sized (~20 lbs!!), adorably sweet, socially savvy, and very well-behaved, 2-3 year old, Black Lab/Beagle mix girl! Affectionate to all, I love to reward people with my little kisses and lie on my back to get my tummy rubbed! When I get excited (like when my foster people come home or when they are about to take me for a walk, yay!!) I make the funniest grunting noises to tell you I am so happy! I can be quite vocal about my excitement--I sound a tiny bit like a snuffling piglet!

Despite my small size atop dainty feet, I am an athletic little girl, almost as if I had springs in my paws. When I walk outside on leash with you, I am usually completely nose-to-the-ground, taking in my surroundings very intently with my nose first. If you jog with me, however, I will be happy to trot alongside with my head up! Don't underestimate my little legs, I can certainly keep up!!

I am a very self-assured little girl, so while of course I would be content to have my tummy and ears rubbed forever, once I get a feel for my surroundings I am very non-needy. I am comfortable almost anywhere in the house and like to sprawl out (or curl up) for a nice contented doze. Keep in mind though that my foster parents are outdoorsy and active people, so i get a jog or great hike or at least a couple of very good long walks every day, so when we are back home, I am happy and tired and ready to just chill out. At my foster home, I tried to get on the couch at first (with a flying leap..."Boing!") to find laps to sit upon but I quickly learned that my doggy beds are way more luxurious than the humans' couches!

Balls, squeaky toys, anything to chase is great for me when I feel playful! I am pretty darn cute when I take my stuffed animal toys and shake them. And I know which things are human toys and which are dog toys so I never chew on anything I shouldn't! My mouth is teeny tiny but I love tennis balls (and I look really cute holding one in my mouth), rolling and bouncing it with my little paws.

At my foster home, I live with my foster brother Max, who is about 4 times my size! Don't be fooled though...I am definitely the "head" dog of the two of us, but am super good-natured with him (not bossy at all) and the staff who worked at the high-kill shelter from where I came say I was perfect with dogs and cats. I am not possessive at all about toys, dog beds, or my crate (BTW, I am completely housebroken so I would not need be crated). it took me a few days to get comfortable with Max's size and his boisterous play style, but now that we've gotten to know each other, Max and I enjoy wrestling and chasing and "play fighting" which is so funny to watch!

I'm a terrific little girl, looking for a fun, active, loving home. If you think you'd like to adopt me, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
