Nina (now Ryen) Has Been Adopted!

Hi my name is Nina, and I am an incredibly sweet, friendly, and bright 10 month old, 32 pound, spayed, female German Shorthair Pointer mix!!

The rescue folks say that I am an incredibly sweet girl. Very playful and happy and friendly, with a touch of gentle and shy in my nature. I absolutely love attention-- I act like it’s what I’ve wanted my whole life but hadn’t before now been lucky enough to get it. Once I get to know you (which takes me just about 3 minutes!), I’m just over the moon to be with you. I try to gently crawl into your lap so I can be as near to you as possible, and then either quietly sit for petting, or give you lots of little kisses on your face! My kisses are adorable little puppy type kisses…not at all slobbery I promise! My butt wags with delight pretty much all the time and I am so happy to just hang out with you, or go take walks with you, or run around in a fenced yard with you!

I’m very attentive to sound, and when I hear an unusual sound (a cell phone ring, the front doorbell sound), I sit up at attention, cock my head back and forth, make my ears go super perky and adorable, and get this look in my eyes like I’m working very hard to solve the riddle of what this new sound is. I’m told the whole thing is crazy cute. The rescue folks have begun to teach me “Sit” and also my name, and it’s clear that I’m very bright (and motivated to earn treats). In just one 15-minute session, they taught me to chase a stick, bring it back and drop it for a treat! That’s pretty good learning, right? They say that the thing that melts their hearts most about me is my eyes…I look at you with these big, innocent, sweet, and loving eyes that seem so deep and soulful and gentle all at the same time. It makes me feel so special and happy when they tell me what a sweet girl I am.

I’m wonderful with other dogs, and am getting to interact with all types, ages, sizes, and genders. No problems with anyone, I’m just a happy, playful girl that wants things to be good and fun for everyone. I was cat tested back at the overcrowded KY shelter from where I came, and they said I was great with cats…basically didn’t care about their presence at all!

Overall, I’m a stellar little pupster. I’m young, have a very sweet temperament and personality, and have good energy, but am not hyper. If I got some good normal daily exercise and a decent amount of time with you, I would be extremely happy and flourish into the amazing adult dog I am clearly meant to be. If you want to apply for Nina, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
