Rhett Has Been Adopted!

Hi my name is Carlisle Pudding, and I’m a super handsome, sweet, incredibly friendly, enthusiastic and energetic, 8 year old, male Black Lab mix! My tail never stops wagging because I am just about the happiest dog you will ever meet!!

I was found stray in KY and no one came to claim me at the shelter, which meant that I was facing euthanasia. The rescue folks think that I must have had owners that I really loved, because I love people so much, and I am very trusting and sweet. I’m well trained, too – perfectly housebroken and I am good at “sit” though maybe not when I am super excited to see you when you first come home! I also know “drop it” and I seem to know that I shouldn’t jump up on people, though sometimes I am so overjoyed to see you that I can’t resist giving you a bit of a “hug!”

I’m terrific with other dogs and am living so sweetly with a bunch of cats. Some of the cats like to cuddle with me on the couch and that’s just fine with me. Really not much phases me – though I sure like to bark at the deer out here! I pretty much love everything. I love my dog toys, I love to play fetch, I love to play with my foster sister dog, I love to meet new people, and I love to go for walks! Going for walks is probably my favorite thing. I have such a fantastic time finding sticks and bringing them to you so we can play fetch while we walk! I just love to run around and explore on a long leash (wait…maybe running around is my favorite thing! I get so excited when my foster parents take me for a real run!). I’m also incredibly well-mannered on leash despite my excitement about being out on a walk. I hardly ever pull when I get to the end of the leash, and I am really just quite polite all around! You sure wouldn’t know that I was a “senior” dog, considering how much I love to play and run.

Everyone that meets me thinks I am a puppy! But even though I kind of act like a puppy, I don’t do any of the annoying things that pups do. I almost never chew things in the house (how was I supposed to know that the package of Post-It notes wasn’t a toy for me?) and I seem to like hats and mittens as much as I like my toys – but I won’t seek them out if you put them away. Also, once play time is over I am happy to curl up on the couch or in a dog bed and just chill and cuddle. Oh yes, I love to cuddle! Wait! That’s probably my real #1 favorite thing! I love to jump up on the couch and put my head in my foster mom’s lap and fall asleep. I have the cutest snore ever!

I really love being with people, people are just the best. I might get a little sad if you leave me alone – I whine a bit at first when you go but I’m ok after a minute. I’d love a home where I got to be around people a lot!

Well I settled in very quickly and easily at my foster house and I am just plain happy to be here.

Please consider adopting me, I am a true perfect gentleman! If you want to apply for Rhett, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
