Pumba Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Pumba and I am a super mellow, 6 year-old, neutered male Great Pyrenees mix! My foster parents keep saying that I have the sweetest and most loving face, and the most beautiful and soulful eyes! Usually I have a gorgeous, thick, full coat of white hair, but I had to get it shaved down to clean me up, so I don’t look as grand now as I will in a few months!

I was rescued from a very high-kill shelter in KY and just arrived to Ithaca in early August. Boy do I love all the nice people I am meeting, and this cooler weather is great!

I’m still settling in, so my people have lots more to learn about me. So far, they know that I am unbelievably calm and gentle, that I love getting petted and getting attention, I am very low maintenance (don’t ask for much!) I sleep a LOT(!), seem to be quite happy and content all the time, and am very nice with other dogs and cats.

My foster folks have a Great Pyrenees girl, and we’re getting along great. There are also lots of cats here, which is kind of exciting when I first see them, but I don’t really have it in me to chase them or to bark at them. I’m pretty mellow like that! The vets say that I have very poor muscle tone, which probably means I was in some situation in which I didn’t get to walk around very much at all. Sad! So for now, I walk very slowly and it’s a little tough for me to get up from a laying down position. My foster parents are taking it real slow with me, but the vets think that once I have a chance to build up some muscles, I’ll be more energetic.

Well so far that’s my whole story! Like I said, I haven’t been here very long, so I’m sure there will be more to say really soon. If you think you might like to adopt me, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
