Mia Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Mia and I am a sweet, spunky, adorable, loving, affectionate, 4-5 year old, 40 pound, spayed, female Australian Shephard mix!

The main thing to know about me is that I really love being around people. I pretty much follow you wherever you go, and if you leave me in a room by myself, I will scratch at the door a little bit to ask if I can be let out and come with you. I like hanging out with you, relaxing while you read or work or watch tv or do house chores…I am very content to be near you, keeping you company, and I love being petted and getting attention and will gently paw at you if and when you stop!!

I also love squeaky toys and curling up on dog beds or furniture! My foster mom and dad let me sleep on their couch at night while they are watching TV but I am a pretty good listener when they ask me to get down. Every once in a while, I try to jump up in bed with them, but the alpha dog in the house always seems to have the spot I want!

I am very good with the other 3 dogs and cats in the house. I am very respectful of the alpha dog and a submissive with other dogs in general-- I just want to play and run around every once in a while! I have also shown quite a lot of interest in the cats in the house, but when I came face to face with one, I gave her kisses and then backed off when she hissed at me. My feelings were hurt! I am housebroken, but still don't know how to ask how to go outside. As long as you give me plenty of opportunity to go outside, I will do my business there!

I also like going for walks with you, but don’t need a ton of daily exercise, just a normal moderate amount. Right now I am left alone for 4-5 hours at a time, 3 days a week, and I am doing ok with that. My foster mom doesn't think I would do very well being left alone consistently all day without any human or doggie friends to play with....she says I am too social of a dog for that!

If you think you might like to adopt me, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
