Hi! My name is Izzy, and I am a ridiculously sweet and friendly, tail-a-waggin', always smiling, easygoing sweetheart Yellow Lab girl! I am probably 7-8 years old, and I weigh about 67 pounds.
I was rescued from a very high kill shelter in KY and landed there after being found wandering alone on a highway. No one ever came to find me, which is just so hard for anyone to fathom, what with me being the sweetest and nicest girl around. But no worries, I am in a wonderful foster home where I am super happy and doing so well!
I love everything about people! I love their attention, their affection, being petted, and when they kiss and coo at me. I also love their adoring laughter, which seems to erupt frequently when they are around me. I love when they make a fuss over me, but I am also very content to just hang out and be mellow when they have work to do.
I also love stuffed animals that squeak! I have never seen such a wonderful thing as a stuffed animal toy, and I carry them around proudly in my mouth with this look that seems to say, "can you believe how wonderful that a toy like this exists in the world AND it is in my mouth?!"
I love going for walks, but due to an old injury with one of my back hocks (sort of my ankle area), I prefer short or medium length, mellow walks to longer or more strenuous ones. The rescue folks took me to the vet for x-rays and it looks like I have a very old injury that now has some arthritis in it. They put me on joint supplements and a pain medication and tell me that as long as I stay away from jumping and too much running, I should do just fine in the future. Lots and lots of us middle-aged dogs get arthritis in our joints, especially if we ever had an injury, and these days it's no big deal as long as we keep our exercise moderate and we take joint supplements and the occasional pain med!
I'm in a foster home with a little dog and we are getting along just fine. I have also been to the dog park and got along well with all of the dogs there. I am great in the house, just hapy-go-lucky and relaxed and mellow, and I don't do anything destructive (like younger Labs might!). I am very healthy and housebroken, and am the quintessential Lab personality..all smiles and friendliness and gratitude. I am so excited to find my forever home with loving people who will take great care of me forever.
If you are interested in adopting me fill out an adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.
