Sura Has Been Adopted!

Hi everyone! My name is Sura, which is Innuit for "new life." That makes me smile, because I sure am excited to have a new life! I have been a seriously neglected outdoor dog, along with 5 other dogs, in rural KY. The conditions that we lived in were really sad and dismal, it was very unclean and our shelters were dilapidated and not good for keeping the rain or cold off of us, but no one was ever outright mean to us. We were owned by a couple, and then the husband (who liked us dogs) died. The wife was going to just euthanize all of us when a kindly neighbor stepped in and took us all to her house. She was so sweet to do this, but was very poor and couldn't afford to feed us, so the great rescue folks down in KY sent our story out and we're all finding homes in different rescue groups all over!

I am a super sweet, 35-40 pound, old girl. Folks are guessing that I am a 12 years old, Corgi/Aussie mix, --we'll have to wait until the veterinarians here have a chance to check me out and say what they think about my age. I'm very good with other dogs and as you can tell from my picture, I am a super sweetie with kittycats too. The rescue folks will tell you lots more about me once I arrive and they have a chance to get to know me better, but for now, just know that I am a super sweet girl who has had a rough life and is incredibly hopeful that I get to spend my remaining time with a very loving, caring, person inside a very warm and cozy home!

If you want to apply for Sura, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
