Daisy Has Been Adopted!

Hi everyone! I'm Daisy, a 37-pound, loving and wonderful, female Cocker Spaniel/Terrier mix. I’m a sweet girl who is somewhere between 8 and 12 years old (a lady never reveals her true age!).

I was a stray, wandering around in a ditch in Kentucky, without a home or a family. Luckily, someone took pity on me (I couldn't even see, there were so many filthy mattes stuck over my eyes!) and brought me to the shelter. I was in rough shape, but my foster mom saw the potential in me, and said she was willing to foster me and nurse me back to shape, so I took a long road trip and now here I am!

A bath and a haircut made a huge difference! I went to the doctor, too, who gave me medicine for my thyroid condition. Two little pills a day and I’ve got more energy and I’m slimming down. I have some fatty tumors and dental problems, but considering how I started out, I’m doing much better already.

Although my past remains a mystery, I warmed up quickly to family life. I’m house trained and I don’t mind being by myself all day. I like walking on a leash and I’m working very hard to get in good shape so I can play more! I love people and having my head scratched. My foster mom can’t believe how much of a tail wagger I’ve become! I like to snuggle on the couch or curl up on my bed; if you’re in the kitchen, I’ll definitely come in to see if you’ve dropped anything I might want to nibble.

I, er, do have one sort of bad habit. I like to rummage around in the garbage. (Can you blame me? That’s how I used to find my dinner!) As long as you keep it out of easy reach, I do okay. I’m learning what you humans call manners!

If you think you might like to adopt me, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
