Freeway Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Freeway, and I am an incredibly adorable, sweet, and loving 7-8 year old, one-eyed (like a pirate!) Corgi mix!

When my first owners could not take care of me anymore, I (and my "brother" Pupper, also on the site) was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter in KY. It was sad that they couldn't take care of us anymore, but the rescue folks say that they must have been very nice folks, because I am incredibly sweet natured and I love everybody I meet. :) It's a secret how I lost my one eye, but I don't mind because folks seem to think it makes me extra adorable, and doesn't seem to affect me in any negative way.

I am quite the little acrobat! I jump like a kangaroo when I get excited (but not on people...just up in the air)! More than anything, I love spending time with people, preferably on a lap. I am a major snuggle bug, and I also always follow my foster parents around the house wherever they go. I would make a great companion for someone who is often at home, and truth be told, I would not be very happy in a home where I was by myself all day. I just love people too much for that.

I also love going on walks! I’m a good walker, whether it be for long rambles or to make regular sniff surveys of my neighborhood. I also enjoy chewing quality rawhides. My foster parents suspect that I could be trained to play fetch if you tried! I also like going out to eat at outdoor restaurants with my foster parents, where I usually get lots of attention from the locals.

I am fully house-trained, I don’t bark much at all, I don’t chew on things I’m not supposed to, and get along very well with dogs and kids. When I see cats in the neighborhood I am curious, and seem to want to make friends with them rather than try to chase them, so chances are I could live well with a cat.

I came to Ithaca with my “brother” Pupper. We love each other a lot. We play together in our foster home and are good at sharing toys. Sometimes we play "wrestlemania!" (in an older man kind of way) and it's especially hysterical. It would be the greatest if the two of us could stay together, though we would be ok going to separate homes as long as they were loving, fun, wonderful homes!

I am in great health and am full of energy. If you are interested in adopting me and/or Pupper fill out an adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
