Annie Has Been Adopted!

Hi my name is Annie, and I am an incredibly sweet, silly, friendly, loving, and 7-8 years young, spayed, female Beagle! Beagles have a reputation for being vocal, but I am a very quiet girl. If i really want something, I will whine/cry softly, but I very rarely bark.

I was in another rescue east of here, but the rescue director had some life changes and had to move a bunch of us to new rescue groups. I am having a super fabulous time in my CDR foster home with my foster mom and dad and two really nice (and really big!) male dogs! This place is great! I go for two fabulously fun walks every single day and am greatly enjoying sniffing every inch of the fenced backyard where I find lovely new smells every day. I get to go to work with my foster mom during the week, and she says I have lovely manners at the office. I think office work is a blast because not only do I get to be around people, I get to scour the office for crumbs on the floor!

Here's the kind of gal I am. When I’m in the house, I hunt around until I find the softest dog bed and then I snooze away the day! I love to be near my mom, and I especially love it when she picks me up and lets me snuggle with her in bed or on the couch. When I'm especially happy – like first thing in the morning or when my mom and dad come home after being out -- my tail goes round and round and round in big circles of joy--I just can't make it stop! I LOVE to go on walks and be outside, and am quite lively. Nothing -- not deep snow, or streams or mud -- stops me! If you decide to adopt me, you'll have to walk me on a leash. Otherwise, I just follow my nose (like a good Beagle does) and you won't be able to keep up with me because you can't get through brush like I can!

My house manners are excellent. I don't beg for food (but if you leave food within my reach, it won't be there when you return. Come on... did you think it would be? I'm a dog! ). I am housebroken and do not have accidents. I don't need to be crated (because I am housebroken and don’t chew things), but am willing to spend time in a crate if necessary. I'm so small that I actually can't get up on the furniture unless you lift me up.

I love riding in the car, meeting new people and dogs, and doing math (ok, not so much that last one). I like living here, but would prefer a forever home with kind, fun people who like to go out on walks every day. I'm great with kids of all ages and other dogs as well!

If you want to apply for Annie, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
