Hello! My name is Yodel and I am a 1 year-old, 55 pound, neutered male Australian Cattle Dog mix! I just came into rescue yesterday...before that, I was chained outside 24/7 to a doghouse. It was so lonely, and so cold, and I was very sad. Then along came some super nice people, who liked me a lot. They talked with my owner about trying to help me live a better life, and my owner said it was ok for them to find me a new home where I could be loved and live indoors. How great is that?! So, those nice ladies contacted CDR who said they would take me into their foster program, but first I needed to be checked out, to make sure that I was very friendly with people and to find out how I was with other dogs. The photos are taken from that day...the nice ladies came down and spent time with me and introduced me to a bunch of different dogs, and I did GREAT!!! I gave the people so many kisses and was wagging my tail the whole time and was really good with the other dogs, even when the young one was jumping all over my head.

There is no available foster home for me, so the nice folks at The Bed and Biscuit are "fostering" me there (for free!). It's a little confusing that life has changed so much so quickly, but I'm really happy to be safe and warm and indoors!!! I have a nice snuggly dogbed to lay on and I get great food twice a day, and get taken out into the big play yard to run around freely. It's really like being at camp, I didn't know it could be so nice. I do look forward to finding a foster or adoptive home where I will have a family of my own and have a chance to learn all the wonderful things that my first owner wasn't able to teach me. I'd love to go to doggy training classes, and I bet I might be good at agility too...I seem athletic and graceful. Oh! And though this could change once I get comfortable in my new surroundings, but so far I don't bark at all. Not at all! Just a quiet guy, taking everything in.

The rescue folks will tell you more about me once they know me better. If you think you might like to adopt me, please read about the adoption process today and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
