Teddy Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Teddy, and I am 2 year old, 15 pound (full grown), absolutely adorable, sweet, friendly, male Terrier mix! I was found stray in KY with a badly broken back leg and landed in a high-kill shelter. I am so lucky and grateful that I got rescued and brought up here, and also that the fabulous doctors at Cornell vet school fixed my leg!! I had my fancy surgery about 2 months ago and am making a fantastic recovery. The docs say I should have full use of my leg hereafter, and I can tell you, I run and jump like there was never anything wrong!

My foster mom says that I am one of the sweetest, most well behaved dogs she has ever known. I am quiet and listen well, and I learn quickly what I am and am not allowed to do. I am very playful, and am very good at entertaining myself with toys or bones, or...recyclables (which I mischievously like to hunt down)!

I am very laid back and affectionate, and really value quality time with my favorite humans. I love to meet new people and am always curious and friendly, never aggressive. I like being near people most of all, and get a little sad when I am alone. I'm the kind of dog that likes to "check in" and see where you are and what you are up to, and though occasionally I cry when left alone, I am learning that people always return, and that's wonderful. I am fine in my crate, which is the best option if you will be away for a while, because though I am potty trained, I have a few mishaps every now and then.

I get along well with other dogs, though can be a little shy upon first meeting. I adjust well to new situations, and am very social and friendly, which is good because I am so adorable that everybody wants to meet and pet me on walks! I would make a perfect family dog, or a dog for someone who is around a lot. I don't need a lot of space, just a lot of love! My foster mom says that I am fabulous, and that whomever decides to adopt me will be extremely lucky.

If you think you might like to adopt me, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
