Tasha Has Been Adopted!
Hi everyone! My name is Tasha and I am a very sweet, loving, and adorable, 6 year-old, 17 pound (and a bit chubby!), spayed, female Pomeranian mix!
***Tasha is not a CDR dog and has not been evaluated by CDR. This is a courtesy posting for Tasha's owners, who will make all decisions about her placement.***
I spent my first year in Ohio on a six foot chain outside where I got quite thin and my coat was severely matted. That was a sad and lonely time for me, but a great rescue program helped me find my home in the Ithaca area where I have lived for the past 5 years.
I am very loving and affectionate, and like snuggling and licking noses! My favorite things are balls, stuffed toys, carrots, and laying in the sun. I am nicely crate trained but also like snuggling at night at the foot of a bed. I am such a good girl at the groomers and the vets office, and they absolutely love me at the kennel where I have stayed on occasion when my family is away.
I am quite an escape artist and would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard. A few years ago I snuck out and had an accident with a car but I turned out ok. I also tore a cruciate ligament about 18 months ago but have recovered well from the repair. Physical therapy has helped me a lot and while I might be a bit stiff sometimes, I don't let it slow me down.
I like to let my family know when other dogs or people walk by the window and I get excited when people come and go, but it is all good fun. I would love an obedience course one day! I am so sweet that maybe I could be a therapy dog because I am a smart girl who loves to please and play. I would make the most loyal and loving pet to the right home. I am a big dog in a little package and not a person walks by without telling me how cute I am!
I am also great with kids, and have lived with some who are very loud and active. I love to join in their fun in the fenced-in back yard. My favorite game with them is fetch, which I can do for hours! They also taught me about car rides, and hikes, and snuggling up on the couch to watch movies. These are all things that I love very much.
So, why am I looking for a new home? Well...I have had some issues with the other dog in my home. My parents have done everything they can to help me live peacefully with the other dog, but despite everyone's best efforts (inlcuding vets, behaviorists and trainers), peace just cannot be made.
My family is heartbroken, but want me (and their other dog, of course) to be happy, which means we can't live in the same home. Truth be told, I want to be the only pet in a house...I'm not so keen on cats either! They decided to put me up for adoption instead of the other dog because I'm younger and seem much more easygoing and adoptable. Their other dog is older, has anxiety issues, and would probably have a much harder time being rehomed.
I am hoping for a loving owner who will enjoy my playfulness and keep me safe and loved.
