Sheera+Mackenzie Have Been Adopted!
Hi everyone! We are Sheera (black and white) and Mackenzie (reddish) and we are two very sweet, very lovable, adorable spayed, female Australian Shepherd mix buddies (possibly sisters)! We were saved at the very last moment from euthanasia in an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky. Talk about lucky!!! The rescue folks are still breathing huge sighs of relief about it...we are SUCH great girls and to think we were literally moments from being put down is almost too much for them to take.
We are fluffy and so soft, sweet, and friendly, adorable and gentle girls. We are each about 35 pounds, and are guessed (by the veterinarians) to be 5-7 years old. Sadly, we were outdoor dogs before coming to rescue, and were lonely and uncomfortable much of the time. Thank goodness we had each other for company and comfort though! We LOVE people, and are so deeply happy that our lonely outdoor days are over. We are so excited to find our forever home and be an important part of a loving human family for the rest of our lives.
Mackenzie is the more curious and confident of the two of us...she loves to come check out whatever the people are doing, and to be wherever they are. She is friendly, affectionate, and outgoing, and has a quiet and gentle (not boisterous at all) nature. Sheera is the more cautious and shy of the two of us. She loves to relax in her bed and is fairly unconcerned with what's happening around her (unless it's a noisy something that is happening, and then she is a bit nervous about it). When there is petting and affection going around however, Sheera is very keen to join in on that fun! She will squirm in with Mackenzie to get a good session of pets and kisses and snuggles, all the while her tail a-wagging right along with Mackenzie's.
The two of us have a great time snuggling together and enjoy sharing a big comfy dogbed! When we go out for walks, we're a tight team, often walking side to side with our shoulders touching---our foster parents call it "a roving snuggle." Sometimes we even do a cute play routine together where we dance a kind of tango! You have to see it to believe it. :)
Both of us are quite friendly with other dogs, and would probably get along with any nice dog we met. We are extremely curious about cats but have not yet been properly cat-tested to see if we could be friendly or not. Neither of us see much reason to bark, even if another dog near us gets to barking. We are quiet and thoughtful and gentle.
We love chewing on rawhides---Sheera can tuck in to a rawhide for hours!---but we don't chew on anything else in the house, which is nice. We like to get outside for walks and exploration, but aren't bothered if we get less exercise on some days. We would love a home with a fenced in yard, so we could run around off-leash, but are doing ok in a home without one (we must be leashed at all times, but are ok with that if need be). We were very good at the groomer's and at the vet clinic...everyone remarks on how sweet and gentle and adorable and pretty we are!
We are both healthy and up to date on vaccines, and very much hoping for a forever home where we can stay together.
