Lucy Has Been Adopted!
Hi! My name is Lucy and I am a small (~12 pounds), female, 11 year old terrier mix! I'm a lot of love wrapped up in a small little package! I've been a wonderful member of a family for nine terrific years. My family says that I am extremely adorable and loving. I like to cozy up to you and be rubbed and petted, and I will stick my nose under your hand to get just one more scratch behind the ear! I don’t have a tail, but I make up for it by wagging the whole back half of my body when I'm happy and excited, which apparently is a joy to behold! Once in a while, I like to roll over on my back and give myself a backrub in the grass, with my legs up and waving wildly, in a moment of pure doggie joy. :)
I am of course housebroken, crate-trained, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and except for an allergy that makes me wheeze once in a while, I'm very healthy. In my older years, I've gotten more hesitant around the other dog in the house and also around the little kids in the house. This was not an issue until last week, when the 2-year-old was petting me and I got quite upset about it and turned and bit her. The little girl is fine, and this was the first time I've done something like that-- but it convinced my owners that, at this point, I would be much better off in a house without children. The rescue folks wondered if I might have a medical condition that made me painful or uncomfortable, and it turns out that a recent checkup has noted that my thyroid is low. The vet is running further tests to see if I should be started on thyroid medications. If so, this is no big deal, just a pill twice a day and not expensive at all.
Though I am sad to leave my family, I think I would love a calm home, with someone who can let me be the lap dog I want to be, without the toddler chaos in my current home. I don’t require long walks or much room to roam, just a lot of love and a willing lap! If you’d be willing to love me, I promise you a ton of love in return.
