Hi! My name is Lilly, and I am a ridiculously adorable, sweet, loving, and very smart, 1 year-old, 35 pound, spayed, female Beagle/Pointer mix!
I am a super friendly, happy, playful and affectionate girl! Everyone always says how much they love me and how sweet I am. I love attention of all sorts…I love being petted and cuddled, having my belly rubbed, giving and getting kisses, and playing all sorts of games!
I love playing with my rope toys and my stuffed animals and I have lots of fun playing tug of war with my foster parents or with the other dogs in my home. I am absolutely fantastic at “fetch” and love fetching toys, balls, sticks, and really just about anything you are willing to throw. If you get distracted, I sweetly nudge you with the item to remind you that it’s time to throw it again! And while I love interacting with you, if you’re busy, I can entertain myself. I find a toy and throw it in the air, or I run around the yard discovering sticks to play with (and then prancing around with them proudly hanging out of my mouth). I’m also happy to nap! My foster parents say I do about a zillion things that make them laugh!
I get along great with other dogs (big & small) and also with cats. I love playing chase and am great at doggy wrestling, and I can adapt my play style for “rough and tumble” playmates, and also for more gentle play styles.
I love going for walks on leash and love hikes on trail. So much to sniff! I enjoy meeting new people most of the time, though occasionally I act a bit nervous with strangers until I have had a chance to get to know them a bit.
I am crate trained, and am super healthy and housebroken. But I do have one medical issue. I have what is termed a “leaky bladder.” I’m on medicines which help a great deal, and during the daytime my leaking is minimal, but I do leak a bunch overnight while I am sleeping. I have had pretty much every diagnostic test that Cornell has to give…x-rays and ultrasounds and ureter scopings (that one was “ouchie”) and we have tried hormone therapy (it didn’t help), and they keep saying that everything looks great (my bladder, my ureters, etc.) but yet I remain leaky at night. My foster parents say that it’s not really that big of an issue…I sleep in a crate in their bedroom and they just throw the blankets from my crate into the wash every morning, and put clean blankets back in my crate every evening. Other than that, they wipe me with antibacterial wipes 1-2 times daily to prevent UTIs, and that’s about it!
I am an all-around fabulous dog. I am very smart, learn things super quickly, and don’t have a mean bone in my body. I’m all about play and affection and loving life and everyone in it!. My ideal home will have at least 1 other dog in it (cats are fine but not necessary) and people who are loving, fun, and would like to play with me and teach me things! Since I have some beagle genes, I probably should not be off-leash unless I am in a fenced yard, but I love going for leashed walks, so no problem if you don’t have a fenced yard.
If you are interested in me, please read about the adoption process today and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.
