Jasper Has Been Adopted!

***Jasper is not a CDR dog and has not been evaluated by CDR, though he sounds like an awesome dog. This is a courtesy posting for his current owners, who will make all decisions about Jasper's placement. Please see info at the end of this bio for how to apply to adopt Jasper!***

Hello! My name is Jasper and I am an absolutely fabulous 6 year-old Husky mix! I am healthy, happy, loving and affectionate, and have the nicest, fluffiest coat around!

What I like best is playing (with you or other dogs) and being in a loving relationship with you. I like to snuggle up on the couch or bed with my people and/or other dogs, while you read or watch TV. I can keep your feet very warm in the winter! And if there just isn’t enough space for me, I don’t fuss about it. I’ll chill on a chair or on the floor. I like best to sleep in bed with you, but if you move around too much, I’ll go sleep on the floor. In the summer heat, my favorite sleep spot is tiled floor. It’s so much cooler for me.

I love to play fetch, go for walks and relax with my people. I am a deeply loyal and loving dog, and am very easygoing and adaptable. I love getting attention, affection, and playing around with you. Though I can be energetic (hiking, playing, etc.), I am great at chilling out too. While you are out of the house or at work, I love to sleep on the couch. I also love to hang out in a fenced yard or on the porch and soak up the sun. My picture shows me in my favorite camp chair on the porch, in the snow!

I love hiking and I have a backpack that I really like. I don’t need to carry anything important, but it makes me feel like a true working dog to wear my pack. I also love to travel, and am always excited to ride in the car, whether it’s just to run errands or to go for a longer trip.

I am definitely an "all weather dog,” and not surprisingly (given my breed), I love snow! I have so much fun chasing snow balls and burying my nose in the snow and rolling in it. If you like to snowshoe, I’d love to come out with you. I am also a good swimmer and love to fetch sticks and toys from the pond. I will swim for hours if you’ll keep throwing!

I have always been with another dog (one big, then one smaller), but I could also enjoy the attention of being the only dog in the home. With dogs I know well, I like to wrestle and play chase and catch a Frisbee. I can get pretty noisy when I play because that’s what we huskies do when we’re happy! I can be quite goofy and my husky chatter makes me seem even sillier! I learn quickly and am very eager to please. I know my basic commands, including sit, down and stay. I liked clicker training and would really like to learn new “tricks” with you, if you want to teach me!

So, why is such a cool, awesome dog like me looking for a new home? Well, my mom and dad aren’t going to live together anymore. It is extremely sad for them to give me up, but they promise me that they will find me a super loving new home. Though I have always lived in the country, I would probably be just fine living in town too, since I’ve done very well on my visits to town over the years. I don’t bark at neighborhood dogs , and when I meet new dogs, I am curious but mostly ignore them.

I am very good at the vet and I have no problems kenneling there if you need to go on vacation without me. I am healthy, happy, housebroken, crate-trained, microchipped and on VPI pet insurance. I don’t do well with cats or poultry, so need to live without them! If you are interested in me, please submit an online adoption application and the rescue folks will forward it to my current mom, who will then be in touch with you!

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
