Auggie Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Auggie (rhymes with Doggy), and I am a super playful, exuberant, smart and curious 1 year old, neutered, male, 50 pound, Great Dane mix!

I am a really terrific dog! I am a very smart, curious and active pup, and am looking for someone who would love to do fun activities with me (like going for walks, jogging, hiking, going to the dogpark, taking agility classes, teaching me tricks etc.), and who has time to spend training and teaching me things. I'm one of those dogs who loves to interact with you, and needs decent mental and physical stimulation to be my happiest. Once I am exercised and have had some interesting things to do, I am content to nap and snooze and cuddle and just hang out and be a mushball! I'm quite affectionate, and I love laying my head on your lap and snuggling next to you on the couch! I especially like to curl up next to you on the couch when you are reading, watching TV, or taking a nap.

I also love to play with other dogs, and have a marvelous time at the downtown dogpark when I get to go. I am currently living in a house with 1 other dog (female) and we play and play and play until she gets tired (I can always outlast her)! The reason I am looking for a new home is that my owners find that they don't have the time to exercise and train me, and now that a new baby is coming, their time is going to be less available, when in fact I need more of it. In order for everyone to be happy, we all decided that finding me a new home where I will get more attention and exercise is the best thing. I should also add that I am nearly potty trained and hardly ever make mistakes anymore.

Though a fenced yard can be fun (and I love the fenced dogpark downtown), I'm, much more interested in being wherever my humans are. I'm definitely not a dog who enjoys hanging outside in a fenced yard by myself. I love going for leashed walks and heading out on adventures with you or being with you indoors. If you want to walk or hike or jog or go to the dogpark or teach me tricks, I will be more than content!

If you think you might like to adopt me, please fill out an online adoption application and live close to Ithaca , Syracuse, Binghamton, or Elmira. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
