Angel-formerly_Angie Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Angel (formerly Angie), and I am a super delightful, sweet, friendly, happy-go-lucky, 7-8 year old, spayed, female Yellow Lab mix! I was originally saved (as a puppy) from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and have had a couple of homes since. I’ve always been a wonderful girl, but people have had to move and couldn’t take me along, so now I am in a wonderful CDR foster home and looking for my absolute forever home!!

I have your typical Lab personality…easygoing, happy-happy-happy, loving, affectionate, eager to please and soooo adorable. I LOVE attention from people, love being near you, going for walks, laying at your feet, exploring trails and creeks, and going for car rides (when it’s not too hot, meaning, over 70 degrees out)! I also love food, so am a snap to train! I am housebroken and am fine in the house on my own (as long as you don't leave food out!), and am a champ at “sit!” I’m learning “wait” and “leave it” and my foster mom says that I have really polite manners in the house in general…I wait to be invited into the bedroom, and I take treats nicely from her hand.

I love playing with other dogs, and have lived very happily with several in the past. I have been a frequent dogpark visitor, and I enjoy it a lot though I am more of a "sniff around the perimeter" kind of dog than a "romp and play" kind of dog. I’m good with cats and I am stellar around children. I lived with kids for a while, and live next door to a bunch of kids now (age 3-11). They come over almost every day and we have a total lovefest...I love when they pet me, hug me, and pay attention to me. I'm pretty much never as happy as when there are kids around me!

The folks in my former home fed me WAY too much, so I have been working on getting back to looking like a dog, after looking more like a walrus for a while! Good food (in proper amounts!), healthy snacks (I love carrots!) and good daily exercise is working wonders for me. I could still lose 5-8 more pounds, and I get winded fairly easily still, but am making good, slow progress and am looking and feeling much better!

I really do love going for short walks, I love relaxing outdoors (in a fenced yard or on a tie-out), and I walk nicely using a Sense-ible or Easy Walk front-clip harness. I love exploring the outdoors, and make exciting discoveries looking into holes in the ground (my foster mom doesn’t know what I am finding, but she praises me for my discovery anyway!). I’m looking for an adopter who wants a loving, joyful companion with whom to share my life. I have so much love to give, and am such a very, very good girl, I know I am going to make someone extremely happy!!

I am very healthy, up to date on vaccinations, and just your all-around pretty awesome companion! If you think you might like to adopt me, please read about the adoption process today and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
