Sammy Has Been Adopted!

Hi everyone! My name is Sammy, and wow...have I been through a lot! I am a very cute, sweet, super affectionate, 1 year-old, 20 pound, male Border Terrier mix who was found stray in really bad shape. I had a sore on my side that wouldn't heal and every time I ate, I vomited. The nice rescue lady got me to her terrific vet who found that I had been shot! Can you believe that? Yup...the x-rays showed a bullet lodged in my abdomen, and they also found that I had raging internal infections. And get this...even though I must have been in so much pain, I was still such a happy, wonderful, sweet, and grateful little guy! They can't believe what a trooper I was, and how much I trusted people, even though I had clearly been through so much.

So of course I had surgery to remove the bullet, but that wasn't the end of it. For weeks and weeks, it was really touch and go, and they thought it likely that they would lose me. But they didn't! :) I am delighted to report that I am doing great!!! I am all healed up, have been putting weight on really well, have been given a clean bill of health, and have turned into the biggest cuddlebug lover of a dog you can imagine.

I love people and I absolutely love to be touched -- petted, picked up, and held on your lap. And I'm a kisser too, which seems to make people giggle and laugh a lot! Now that I'm all healthy and feeling good, I have a lot of energy sometimes but I calm down as soon as you touch me. I'm a terrific little dog and I have such a positive, happy outlook. The rescue lady who saved me and is fostering me now, says it's truly amazing that I survived the whole ordeal and rightly calls me her wonder-dog!

And speaking of dogs...I like other dogs very much, and seem curious but fine with cats.

I'm currently in rescue/foster care in KY, but no worries there. If you are the right one for me, it's not a problem for me to catch a ride to the Ithaca/Syracuse area for us to meet. :) If you want to hear more about me, please fill out an online adoption application and the rescue will forward it to my KY rescuer/fosterer who will be in touch!

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
