Hi! My name is Murphy, and I am a soulful and loving, 55 pound, 10 year old, male English Coonhound! I'm a fabulous boy--very friendly (though can be a bit shy with strangers), I love people, and I get along great with other dogs. You should see my eyes...hounds have the deepest, most beautiful eyes ever! I'm also housebroken, and walk very nicely on leash! I know hounds have a repuation for being big barkers, but I'm not one of those at all! I bark only to communicate something specific...like if I am outside in the fenced yard and would like to come in, or vice versa. I'm a very laid back, chill guy! I've been living with a family for a long time, but my cat chasing is not acceptable to them and so they are giving me up. Though I have been ok with indoor cats (as long as people keep an eye on things), I see outdoor cats as prey, and thus must always be on leash when outdoors (or safely inside a fenced yard).
I'm you're all around wonderful guy, who is in a very sad situation of needing to find a home at the sweet old age of 10. I am likely to live to be 14 or 15 (many of us hounds do!), so we could have a great bunch of years together if you would let yourself consider a senior boy like me. You won't be disappointed. I am a wonderful, mature companion with so much love to give. If you are interested in me, please submit an online adoption application and Cayuga Dog Rescue will forward it to the Salty Dog folks.
