Maverick Has Been Adopted!
Hi there! My name is Maverick and I am the sweetest and happiest 15-month old, neutered male American Bulldog mix there ever was! I am tan with a white belly and weigh 50 pounds, but people tell me its mostly because my paws are so big!
My owner saw me waiting patiently at a shelter in Florida and absolutely could not leave me there, so he took me home. It was only supposed to be temporary until he found me a permanent home but we bonded like you wouldn't believe and pretty soon we were inseparable. We made our way up to Ithaca on a road trip seeing the countryside. While I wasn't flapping my ears in the wind I slept almost the entire way up the coast, it was great!
The best thing about Ithaca for me is the outdoors. My dad and I do all sorts of activities my favorites of which are hiking, jogging, playing fetch with my frisbee, and playing at the dog park with my friends. I am probably the most playful dog when I meet new friends, young or old. While sometimes I underestimate my strength, I usually get along with all sizes of dogs, as long as they'll chase me (my favorite game)! I also enjoy long walks, but be careful not to let me get too far ahead of you because I am still learning to play friendly with squirrels and cats. I have been swimming before but am not such a big fan of the water, unless I am with one of my friends, then its off to the races!
As for my home life I am generally pretty well behaved. I love my stuffed animals and with a little exercise I can sleep just about all day long. I do get nervous when my dad leaves for the day, but as long as I have my chew toys and a snack I can entertain myself pretty well. One thing I especially like, I mean LOVE, is people. Any time there is a room of people I can't help but go around and greet everyone hoping they'll rub my belly. Sometimes when my dad is watching TV Ill even climb up and sit in his lap even though I'm such a big puppy. If I had it my way, I would cuddle with him all day long and never leave his side.
My ideal home would be one where there is an active someone to play with me and take me outside to do fun activities. I generally get along with kids just great, but have been known to go a little overboard on the kisses. I am just about fully housetrained but once in a while when my dad is gone I get nervous and cant help it. I rarely bark and respond well when you tell me not to do something. Its not that I do anything really bad to annoy my dad, but I'm still a puppy and sometimes I just need him to tell me whats ok and whats not ok.
