Gentle-Ben Has Been Adopted!

Hi everyone! My name is Gentle-Ben, and I am the sweetest, most filled-with-honey, loving, affectionate, laid-back, easygoing boy around. I am 8-9 years old, and am a big lovable neutered male Black Lab mix with a huge number of fans throughout the Ithaca and Trumansburg area!

I am in a wonderful foster home here in Central NY. I have 2 loving and fun foster parents, and share the house wtih 2 other dogs and a couple of cats. You should see how sweet I am with all of them! I LOVE my foster parents and every other person that I have met so far. I love being petted, kissed, cuddled, and just generally paid attention to. I sometimes make cute little moaning/whimpering sounds if you stop petting me, which tends to crack people up and make them pet me some more!

I also love going for walks. When I first came, I was quite overweight (105 pounds) and had achey, weak back legs. But I have been on a healthy doggy diet, am getting great nutrition, joint supplements, fish oil, and herbal meds, and am currently under 90 pounds and walking like a champ! Wowza, do I feel much better!!! I am now walking 2-3 miles a day (on trails) and am loving every step! I love sniffing and exploring everything out on my walks and love being out with my people and the other dogs.

My foster parents want you to know that though I don't "smile" at the camera, I'm a very light-hearted and happy guy. I have that "I am super happy and delighted-with-everything" attitude toward my world, which they say is just lovely to be around. They call me "the little drummer boy" on account of how much my exuberant tail thwaps the floor with happiness. My 3 favorite things are: hanging out in the yard with my people, going for walks, and mealtime!

I'm a healthy, happy, older guy, am totally housebroken, am an utter delight to be around. I seem to have some sort of charisma that makes folks fall in love with me almost immediately. Lucky for me!

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
